Huffy Primus - Loaded with profile parts, Mosh Pro Team, GT Team Box, GT Ultra Box, Trek TI 3 Wade Bootes, Kona Mama, Specialized Hemi Team, Powerlite P61, Redline XLR8R, Mountain Cycle After Shock, Haro Monoque and DK Legend was what the top rider raced when I raced between 1997 and 2000.

Re: Best Racing Bike of the Late 90s?

All these bikes cost in the region of $700 to $1000 back then, the Huffy Primus being the most expensive at $1000.

Brain Foster raced for Schwinn in the late 90's. He had his own signature frame and fork set called the Blue Falcon.

Re: Best Racing Bike of the Late 90s?

lol, yeah, I need to work on my sarcasm emoticon. 1995-96 it was the ENF, '97 was the Pro Mod a $1000 compete that'd give anything mentioned so far a serious run for it's money, the cromo signature frames weren't technically race frames but more a of a DJ frame. Then of course they put his sticker on the Taiwan bikes that looked like that frame, but different series. But back to your question the '98-2000 Pro Mod frames again, and I'd put the 2000-1 against ANYTHING available, but I'm a Schwinn guy so take that with a grain of salt lol.

Something tells me ENF/Pro Mod #5 in my garage is going to have this paint scheme wink

Cool thread. Rather than saying "marked" I will say 1995 Auburn CR-20RX

Not super high end, but these Quads were cool for $570 complete. With the right components-definitely a contender. Building one up this weekend. big_smile

'97 was the only year. $749 with OPC, $999 with Profile cranks and Whippet chainring. '95-6 you got a fork and stem for your $399, '98-01 you just got a bare frame.

Right on I didn't know that. I only like the 98 bass boat red pro mods. I have a cruiser, pro xl and a mini. I love the bass boat red. Didn't schwinn sell out in 00/01?

Re: Best Racing Bike of the Late 90s?

In my opinion it would be GT's Speed Series Team bike.  Gary Ellis dominated racing in the late 90's on this bike.

I like both my robinsons, 96 mx pro and 98-99 aluminum pro, but my F/A is faster, and lighter than both...of course then there's my 14 PK...big_smile it's lighter and faster than all 3...yikes

The 1997 Peregrine Class 1XL that I am trying to sell. Super light. Well made. Proven company history of quality parts.
