Weird bike with strange components

There is a guy at work that has some bmx stuff he wants gone.  The frame is all aluminum and is made of some very weird shaped tubeing.  He thinks it was some special x-games edition, which screams walmart to me.  He won the bike in a bmx race in the 2006/7 era.  He replaced the chainring, free wheel, and chain.  Looks like it has a redline chainring, kmc k415H chain.  He said the bike came with a one piece crank and he installed the aluminum 3pc cranks and Drive branded pedals.  He also informed me that he replaced the forks, handle bars, tires (had big dirt tires before),  and added the cheapo pegs and seat. Wheels are original, he says they were supposed to be double walled.  I don't believe it. They look cheap.  I will try getting better pics in just a few minutes  Any idea on what this bike is and what type of components are on it?

Re: Weird bike with strange components

Dumar XG-20 (X-Games licensed).  Dumar is now Ballard Resources (?) and is the same company that sold all of the full suspension motobikes from about 2005-2010 or so.  Sold at Wal-Mart.  They had black and red decals.  I had one that I traded for a new Artin 1/24 slot car set.

Interesting. I swear I something about this bike is mythical as I can't find pictures anywhere haha.  I haven't been able to find anything about either dumar or Ballard either. Maybe this frame is supposed to be forgotten haha

Re: Weird bike with strange components

From the quick looks I had, it seemed pretty beefy, and had decent welds.

Re: Weird bike with strange components

I have found a pic from probably the only other one on the Internet haha
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z183/jray00343657/_35%203_zpsjxwrpujd.jpg

Looks like the handlebars are the same as the one I have been taking pictures of.  So they are probably scrap, along with the wheels.  But the front forks are definitely different on the bike I have here vs this pic I found.

The cranks definetly look like k2's.

Re: Weird bike with strange components

Has anyone been able to find any other pics or info on the forks? Trying to decide if it's worth picking up from my buddy, so far I'm interested in the drive train mainly.  The frame looks like an interesting wall hanger if anything

Re: Weird bike with strange components

Randomly i found this today.  I remembered i made a thread a long time ago.  Looks like the bike was an Activ Vac-Tec?  Doesnt matter, its probably in the dump by now.  I should have snagged the tires and crankset when it was still available.  I probably could get ahold of the guy, but i dont need any of it.

Re: Weird bike with strange components

The brand was X-Games and XG3 was the model.  They were imported and branded by the same group of people (mostly ex-BMX racer, Clay Goldsmid) that now own the Hyper brand and were primarily sold at Wal-Mart.  The company/factory was Dumar at the time and did sell to other vendors (which would likely have different branding) but in much smaller quantities.  A company I worked for did all of the sales analysis for the the importers and the factory.  I used to have a sales prototype.

My bike in this photo from a promo event:

Re: Weird bike with strange components

Well the Gyro plate DOES say Hyper, which would have been my 1st guess on what this frame is.  And yes, putting 3-piece K2 cranks on this is like putting a $3000 car stereo in a car worth $500.
