1982 Speed and Research The Outback 26

I have included an original company flyer with a slightly later model pictured.

This is rare early mountain bike with heavy BMX influence. Handmade in Bend, OR and made for drum brakes only. Mine is the earliest known survivor and the only nickel plated example I have seen. Mostly original. I replaced the handlebars, tires, grips and pedals.
First Gen Landing Gear fork (modified by S&R with a brake lever mount for the drum brake)
Inverted Tuf Neck (not currently pictured)
GT Cruiser handlebars
Odi Shroom grips
Tioga Bear Trap headset
Tommaselli Racer brake levers
Suntour shifters and front derailleur
Shimano Deer Head rear derailleur
Sugino AT cranks
Suntour XC-II pedals
Brooks B-72 seat
unknown seat post (modified with a machined aluminum plug to keep dirt out)
Saturne HX-32 rims
Sturmey-Archer drum brake hubs
IRC X-1 tires

Still searching for my missing bikes from BITD. 1979 Blue Max serial: CI9 221346 and 1977 Webco serial: 42667. Both were last seen at Spoke and Sport Bicycles in Spokane, WA around 1984. $600 reward if found!!

Gnarly is when it's beyond radical, it's balls out danger, & or perfection, & or skill or all of that combined. Nobody can shred like that guy, he's gnarly.                                        \m/  ( º . º )  \m/
