1985 Mongoose Californian

My First True Survivor - Everything but the grips and missing pads

These bikes are a little heavier than I thought they would be with being a full 4130 chromoly frames/forks, and it's likely in the low end parts/wheels that they came with. However, this is my first full complete (minus grips and pads) survivor I have collected, so it stays as it is, NO UPGRADES!!! I love the ride on this bike and the geometry really is nice and fast, makes me want a Pro Class '85 full race rig now (ha ha, like I could afford it). Even the og tires, although getting a little dry, ride very well. Been jumping curbs into my yard, little whips into the neighbor's dogs face (mean ass pit bull douche bag dog), and lots of wheelies and endos. Neighborhood kids thought it was cool, and my two neighbor adult buddies freaked out at how well preserved this thing is. Both went on and on about how everyone they knew BITD had or wanted a Mongoose in their perspective neighborhoods they grew up in. Good ride and good conversation piece, love these survivors.

You think it's heavy because you are used to all this aluminum RI's ans SE's. big_smile

Nice goose man! These Californians is what got my love  affair started with Mongoose. What I like most about survivors is you are not afraid to ride them and possibly scratch them. That's why I ride my Z2 a bunch. big_smile

Re: 1985 Mongoose Californian

Your z2 is so rad and I eventually will get one when a super clean one comes up. Yours and Andrews were the pics that I saw when I realized that a huffy z2 was the brand and model of my first "real" bmx bike after the ole banana seat AMF that I stole dads 10 speed bike seat for, HA.

Re: 1985 Mongoose Californian

I hope you find one to get closer to completing your collection. I just got a Californian frame and fork to build up. big_smile Thanks again for the compliments on my Z2.
