1980 Redline MX-II

Replica of my first Redline

Just finished this replica of the 1980 MX-II I received for Christmas, 1980. Took me almost four years to find all of the parts in the right condition. Original paint and decals. 1980 Redline MX-II frame and fork; VDC fluted alloy bars; Ame bubble font grips; Schwinn headset; metal flange Skyway Tuff Wheel IIs, Suntour coaster brake hub, Cheng Shin 2.125 front tire, IRC MX-4 "The Gripper" 1.75 rear tire; Elina Lightning Bolt seat; unknown fluted allot seat post (22.2 mm); Xcaliber seat post clamp; MKS BM-1 ratrap pedals; cand gold Ashtabula 175mm cromoly OPC; unknown loose ball bottom bracket; unknown chain; Sugino 44 tooth alloy chain ring; Sugino chrome spider and stamped chain ring bolts. Redline crossbar pad.

probably not how I'd build it today, but this is how the original looked under my Christmas tree. Still the best material gift I've ever received.

Looking for a USA-made pre 1981 Redline MXII f/f with original black paint and decals.

Joe, so cool you finally got this child hood replica done, I know you have been searching & collecting parts for a long time. I think it's cool to see a black Redline with gold, not common, but looks really cool. I dig it! big_smile
