How many racers do we have here?

I know of a handfull of racers here.  I am one, and I buy midschool race parts and newschool race parts for me and my kids.  How many of you dads built race bikes for your kids off the museum?  I have been watching the for sale forums alot for race parts but seems to be not so popular anymore.  Its off season for racing maybe thats why.  Anyways just thought I would find out how many of you are around here.  I do know about the race forums but seems like little population in that forum.

I race, not very fast though cool  Do have a bit of stuff I'm looking to get rid of, PM what you're looking for big_smile  Hopefully I can make it out to a bunch of races next season, this one was a total flop due to work and life.

Not looking for any parts for my racers atm.  Just always watching smile   My family and I are moving to Colorado for the bmx racing and mountains.  I have 2 boys that race and 2 girls plus myself.  The wife told me I need to get rid of alot of the bikes and parts we have because of the move.  But this would be a nice way of getting a list of people you can go to right away for race parts.   Should we start a list?   Whats your local track FatGuy?

Hell yea!  Kids are the best reason to race.  I used to race bitd took some parts to the local track and the boys wanted to come with.  They were hooked the minute they saw it.  I even quit smoking we race so much.  My 9 year old has a very good shot at factory ride sponsership.  That was one of the reason for the move from NE to CO   My 12 year old loves the sport but just aint got the drive and he dont care he is happy to ride even if he finishes last.  We all ride for NoWear.  Nowearbmx.com smile

Re: How many racers do we have here?

big_smile put me on the list. I'm always looking for race parts as well. I started racing again this year after 25+ years off the plastic saddle lol raced cruiser class locally but plan on branching out and racing class as well in 2013. I want to hit the state races and a few nationals this year to! I'm addicted...nothing like being on the gate and waiting for the drop... Fun fun fun

Needs: always looking for odyssey director s2 forks, Fly pantera V-bars, Knight Gum drops, Knight retro stems, knight retro gooses (yes, I love knight stuff!) GT 4bar pro bars with the GT logo stamped on the bottom of the down tubes (race model) thanks!

Re: How many racers do we have here?

Just went out to the Orange Y BMX Track in Orange, CA last week with 2 of my buddies, all of us first timers. We all ride 24" Redline Cruisers and 30+ years old. First off, watching from the stands made it look like a breeze.. No way! After a few laps I was beat! I could say we all felt it. But by the end of the night, we were hooked! I really enjoyed it, we're already planning to go back next week. I can't wait!.. Great exercise too!

I was beat after I raced as well.
As you said, it looks a lot easier from the stands.
Have fun!

Re: How many racers do we have here?

My kids (3 boys) and I race....well, at least I try to lol. My oldest (12yrs. old now), then 8yrs. old, saw a pic of me in the late '80s 4 years ago at the Deptford Dustbowl in NJ and he/we have been hooked ever since. He has worked hard and earned a sponsoship with the Standard Northeast Factory team for the 2013 season along with my two youngest and myself on the Bike Shop team smile. I'll post pics when we receive our goods and f/fs. It probably won't be til after the New Year due to race season being over hear in NJ.

Re: How many racers do we have here?

I raced hard core from 2000 to 2004. I spent all summer riding my mountain bike to get my endurance up and in the process lost 20 pounds. I planned on racing at Thrifty Acres Indoor this winter, but once again my school schedule wont allow it. Im graduating in March so looks like Ill have to postpone my return to the track. Oh yeah, Ill be racing a blue OM Flyer!

Re: How many racers do we have here?

I race 46-50 Cruiser and 41+ Intermediate.  I came back to racing a couple years ago after about 25 years off.  Last night finished out the 2012 season, and I'm pleased with how things turned out despite an annoying number of injuries that have limited my racing this year.
