I cut a thin strip of vinyl signage adhesive and stuck it around the top tube before fitting the clamps to prevent scratching. You will need to shape it a bit first to suit the CMS tube oval profile as the clamps are round.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to keep an eye out for a couple.  Any reason to add more Camagnolo is fine by me, I even bought the Campy seat binder bolt.

The brake cable clips can typically be found NOS for about $30 (3 in a pack).  There is a chromed steel version and a later stainless steel version.
