24" Cook Bros. Racing

Hey everyone, Here's my modified 1978 24" Cook Bros. Racing I just finished building.

1978 CBR frame and fork modified by the Frame Dr. from a 20" into a 24" (CBR never made a 24" frame/fork in 1978)

CBR cranks

Johnny Chopper reproduction stem stamped JC14 with no knurling. OG Cook Bros. had knurling.

CBR reproduction seat post clamp - has different pressed in fasteners and machined out of 6061 aluminum instead of cast like the originals.

NOS Hatta Headset

NOS Dia Compe MX1000 brakes

NOS Dia Compe brake cable

NOS Dia Compe Tech IV brake lever

Scott Matthauser brake pads

NOS Tuf Neck chainring

Reproduction MKS BM-7 pedals

Izumi chain

Araya 7X wheels laced to Bullseye hubs with double butted spokes

NOS Crupi chain adjusters

Kashimax seat and seat guts

Al's Rapid Transit Bars

AME Tri grips

Diamond Back Turbo crank dust caps

That came out amazing, nice build!
I don't mind the reproduction stuff, because it is quality made - the Al's bars are totally sweet

Who made the stem?

I just scored a 1980 CBR frame and fork. Frame Doc lives 8 miles away from me hmm...... Wheels are turning in my brain.

Re: 24" Cook Bros. Racing

So, I'm thinking wow, a 1978 24 Cook Bros. cruiser?  I'm thinking, didn't the 24 BMX cruiser come out in like 1981-82?  Yeah, it's a cool bike, but I think you should call it what it is, a 2015 Cook bros. reproduction 24 cruiser.  lol

Re: 24" Cook Bros. Racing

It's crap. You stuffed a proper frame and covered it in repop parts.

In fairness, that frame was sadly chopped up by a previous owner. I know one collector who would have gladly traded a better candidate (for modifying) CBR frame for this once wonderful survivor frame. Too late now.

Unbelievable.

No don't start, make your own thread about chopped up bikes with repoped parts, then you can whine and cry all you want. This thread is about a nice looking bike that's recently built.....not a crying ceremony on what's right or wrong with it.
