2014 Johnny Chopper Quicksilver 26

Custom built Quicksilver tribute

         It annoyed me bitd that I grew too tall to ride my 20'' bmx,mainly my knee's hit the handlebars. Now 30+ years later I went into my local bikeshop and discovered the SE retro bikes,in particular 26'' and 29" cruisers. What annoy's me even more now is that I never knew they even existed! Australian manufacturer Quicksilver also made 24'' and 26'' cruisers bitd which would of been great if I knew about them. So rather than try and find an original  one that would more than likely be rusty and cost a fortune I got Johnny Chopper to build me one. I had the frame made with 11/8'' steerer and built it with modern day components inspired by the SE retro bikes. The photo's don't do the powder coating job justice as the colour and depth is brilliant and is even perfect between the two down tubes.
Parts list;
Forks; Johnny Chopper chromoly,11/8 steerer,5mm RL PL style dropouts.

Wheels; Complete SE,Bubble Mohawk hubs and Alex DM24 rims. Kenda K-rad tyres.

Re: 2014 Johnny Chopper Quicksilver 26

Thanks for the comments fellas  I built this bike as I've always built cars, motorcycles and now bicycles. That is for my own personal satisfaction.  But if I can get accolades from my peers,well that's "icing on the cake".

Re: 2014 Johnny Chopper Quicksilver 26

The powder coat is high metallic silver,then candy purple    and clear. When the sun hits it the metallic sparkles through. He does a nice Redline red. Actually he does a great job what ever the colour. Helps that he's also a bmx collector!
