1996 GT Mach Two
1996 GT Mach Two
Aluminum frame.
Bought the frame on eBay as a speed series or a mach two. Seller wasn't sure. I asked a Facebook group to help with the serial # and was told it's a speed series. After a few people questioned it I looked around and found that it's a mach two. Had it powder coated and added some new parts. Turned out pretty good. SOLD

Nice looking build, good work.
Very stout looking frame length though, are you sure it's not a GT Mach 2 aluminum?

Re: 1996 GT Mach Two
I was thinking the same thing. Among other things, GT Mach Two frames had a shorter top tube than Speed Series frames. It looks like you have a 1996 or 1997 GT Mach Two.

Re: 1996 GT Mach Two
That's what i was told was a speed series. I asked since i wasn't sure and that's what a guy said. I did buy mach two decals just to be safe though. Maybe one of you can figure out for sure by the serial number. I can send a pm. Thanks

Thank you. Either way this bike turned out very nice. If it is a mach two i have decals ready to change over.

Re: 1996 GT Mach Two
If the serial number's on the bottom of the bottom bracket shell, than it's probably a Mach Two. The Speed Series frames from this era had serial numbers on the left dropout.

I know this is 4 years later glad to see you’ve got the correct model. I was in a similar situation but was sold a Pro Series when it actually turned out to be a 97 Power Series. The difference between the Power Series and Mach 2 are as follows,
Mach 2- 18in TT/Power Series- 19+in
Both have brake guides on non-drive side(Left Side)
Mach 2- Brake guide behind seat tube/ Power Series Does not.
Both have serial numbers located on BB.
Both are aluminum frames.
Just more info for future purchases if you choose to go with that same year era! Sweet ride, I ended up trading my Power Series for a Mach One, which buyer didn’t say anything about the serial number being grounded off, which really pissed me off. So now I’m stuck with obviously at one point a stolen bike. Anyways sweet Mach Two dude even if it’s sold now.
Best regards

Re: 1996 GT Mach Two
Sweet build, I know this post is old. I recently got my hands on a 1995 GT Mach Two and been wanting to rebuilt it. Can you lend any help in tracking down a Decal kit for this frame. Any help or info would be appreciated.
Thank You
