2008 DK General Lee 24

Bone Stock 2008 cruiser including safety reflectors

Gift for my son, rides very smooth. Can't beat the price for a full cro-moly frame set. Back end feels a bit heavy. Love the cartridge style bearings in the headtube.

Killer General Lee!!!  One of my favorite cruisers to ride, and one of the first with short chainstays and a 14 mm rear.  Don't think they call it the General Lee anymore (for '09).  That name and the Iron Cross decals have become politically incorrect I guess--good thing you snagged the last and best model year!!

Cool bike.  Solid dependable rider with a good base for upgrades-if a person wanted to.

How does he like it? I'm stuck between DK and Haro right now for my 24...

i rode it quite a bit on some Seattle wooded trails. Handled very nicely.
I'm not familiar with the Haro models.
Prices have gone way up so i guess it all depends on the components they come with.
I do know the geometry on the DK was dialed in so that makes it a worthy choice.
What bugs me about Haro is that they have so many non-full cromo frames.

Re: 2008 DK General Lee 24

Cool, mine would be primarily street stuff, the tt is longer on the Haro and it rode pretty nice(more bells and whistles, sealed components, gyro, and a better paint scheme). Thanks for the input, the haro catalog says 3+ tubes chromoly, I have no idea what that means. How much does the DK weigh in at? What do you think of the stem? I've had problems with similar styles before. I'm about 6' tall, I wonder if that would be a good geometry for me... Thanks!

3+ tubes cromo is their BS way of saying Trimoly or a tad more. not full cromo.
no problems with the stem or bearings.
My son is right at 6 foot (who now owns the bike) and he says it's perfect for manuals and jumping.

Re: 2008 DK General Lee 24

That's what I figured...
Thanks, does he do any track time with it? The difference in price is about $30 and looks like it will come down to frame vs. components. Currently can't find any dk's at the local shops though. Thanks for all your help.
