Re: Haro Series 1B Retro Plates

I don't think many kids will go for this BIG old school style plate , and especially the smaller kids. Maybe kids from about 12 and up who have a little bigger bars. ... JMO

Re: Haro Series 1B Retro Plates

Haro is releasing these plates a tad early at the Florida Spring Fling event here on March 28th. If we don't sell out that weekend, we'll have them on the PlanetBMX site the following week. All 5 color combos!

I'd be willing to bet that it is indeed an actual numberplate.

Just to put some minds at rest, each plate has our Genuine Vintage Series stamp in the mold. They all have this on the back. No mistaking this as a replica. Also guys a mold like this costs $10,000us to make. $49.99us is pretty decent considering how many we will have to sell to pay for the mold.

$50 is a great price.

I purchased a Haro 1B this year for $350.

Re: Haro Series 1B Retro Plates

When most basic new school plates run between $15-$20, $50 seems reasonable to run some old school flair.

Again, those that use the word "fake" for reissue or retro goods have lost all franking concept of what BMX is.

I pity them.

Sell out?  jeez, i'd like to get one but I can't come to Florida. If they're gone, how long will be before they're back in stock Ed?

Re: Haro Series 1B Retro Plates

Sure, it's kind of a fun idea and sure, you can put numbers on it but they aren't real 1B plates and $50 for a toy plate is just too much.  Haro is gouging it's OS customer base with all the over priced retro stuff lately but hey, it's your money!

Re: Haro Series 1B Retro Plates

"Toy plate"?

I don't even know what that means.

Like OG ones were/are more elite to the average BMXer.

People spend hundreds on vintage ones, but that is somehow a wiser choice than $50 on a reissue?

Like I said, no franking clue.

Agree. I can only assume that many of these haters have not been exposed to automobile restoration for instance. Reproduction components, or what they deem as 'fakes', have been a savior to many a resto project. I can't imagine, and I've never seen, a legion of car restorers bashing reproduction part manufacturers for making 'fakes'. hmm The biggest concern with them is quality level and the bad stuff gets ferreted out rather quickly.

Been down this road with you before and I think you know where this goes.  You also know exactly what I'm talking about so don't pretend you don't.  I called it a toy because it's not something any serious racer I know would run so it's more like something to play with.  It has no real modern application besides appeasing guys like you who won't drop the coin for the real stuff.  That $50 price point was well thought out and is targeted at your demographic.  As usual, I think you are the clueless one who does not get it.

Re: Haro Series 1B Retro Plates

Yup, I have no clue what "real" BMXers do. I guess most of the ones I know aren't "serious" so I will let them all know they are just riding toys if they aren't winning races or running NAG plates.

This conversation is so stupid it makes my brain hurt.

Some people can keep collecting relics and bitch about "fake this" and "fake that". While I will continue to go out and earn numbers to run on my "fake plate" with my "fake bike".

Yeah, I'm the one with no clue on what a BMXer is and does.
