2000 Mongoose Brawler 24

Rebuilt with a new look and custom old school style decals

Refound in North Ryde, Sydney NSW October 2014

The 2000 Mongoose Brawler 24 was not a nice looking when it first rolled out the bike shop. The chunky frame was accentuated by the dark battleship grey colour, all black Mongoose tyres, and black tribal tattoo inspired sticker graphics. There's little wonder kids were turning away from BMX and getting mountain bikes instead. Where did the fun go?
To bring this one back from the rubbish tip it needed a complete overhaul. A 1984 DP Firebird that popped up on the BMX Museum homepage one day was my inspiration. I started by sourcing 24" white wall tyres, not available in Australia, they were imported from OS. The wheels were in pretty good shape and just needed a clean and polish. The high flange silver hubs were perfect for the look I was after. A respray in my garage gave the bike the right colour and from there it was a matter of getting it back together. To go with the old school flava, I designed a new set of decals. With resprayed S&M slam bars, refurbed pedals, gyro polished seat clamp and stem and a new set of cranks (the old ones were bent) and the bike was done.
This bike is now relocated in Newcastle, NSW.

Nice Work on a 24 goose!   You took "lemons and made lemonade"!  Like how you made your own decals.
