1998 Huffy Enigma

Built up for my first shot at racing.

Picked this up as a frame/fork/stem with the intent of building myself a decent racebike on a budget.
Used a bunch of parts I already had, traded for some, and bought a few on the cheap...I'm pretty stoked with how it turned out.Really looking forward to taking it to the track in Spring.

Re: 1998 Huffy Enigma

Now that's one proud Huffy right there - nice job!!

I can't believe the way people mistreat bikes. It also amazes me how many people don't have any bikes and never ride them - poor miserable souls.

Re: 1998 Huffy Enigma

Good looking huffy! How big is front sprocket..may want smaller for faster starts and snap out of corners, depends on riding style, tack etc..good luck on racing! Need a jersey?

Re: 1998 Huffy Enigma

Thanks guys, I'm really happy with how it turned out...my first Huffy in 40+ years, and this one is a lot racier than the old one.

animalistic, the seat is an Avocet. Here's a bigger pic:

GAry, I'm geared 45/16...hoping I'll have the legs to push it by Spring, lol.
Jersey would be awesome! I've actually been looking for one.

Bigger pic of bike just for grins:

Re: 1998 Huffy Enigma

Finally got a battery for my bike scale...24.5lbs.

Not to bad considering the weight of the cranks and the stem, (was really surprised that the Crupi stem weighed more the the stock Huufy stem).

Sweet bike! There is a Huffy racing seat sitting in the parts bin of a local bike shop that looks like it goes to that bike. cool

Looks like some influence there from the first mad max movie, the yellow cop cars.

Re: 1998 Huffy Enigma

Nice bike.  I have the same stem on my current race bike.  I like to have some old school flavor when I build up a bike.

My kid confiscated this one as his race bike...(I swapped out the sprocket for a 41t and swapped the GT tires for some Tioga Power Blocks)...he rode it at practice last week and loved it smile

Oogie...I was really surprised how much that Crupi stem weighed...more than the stock Huffy stem, but it does look a lot cooler.

Hoping to be back at Trilogy Tuesday...will post some action shots later.

Thanks...it's definitely an eye catcher.

Stole a few parts off it for other builds...really need to put it back together for spring.
