Bassett Racing

Bassett is making a modern version of frame sets as we won't revert to the past. 100% us made, US quality.  Let us clear the air about Bassett Bike USA. It is in fact still owned by Paul Bassett and myself, Bill Hohman. We personally fab and design all our new models here in the US. Additionally owned is Peddlepower and Privateer rights, we will be making new versions of those also. If any member has a  questions, pleaseask, we will answer them as quickly as possible. Bassett is also the new sponsor of the 4130. Thank you for you time, Bassett BMX Bikes USA

Re: Bassett Racing

Click "Website" near his name....

Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86.  Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly.  There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.

Rip off artist! Fake SE racing bars, fake landing gear, and fake bullseye products.

What does Bassett have to do with fake Bullseye stuff being peddled by Bullseye themselves? I don't want to wade through 25 pages of that thread.

Re: Bassett Racing

Texasbmx, steve owed me for designing pedals, this lead to the hubs.Read the 25 pages and see how it turns. At fist it was agreed with steve however he changed his mind. I have all emails to purport what I am saying. I never sold anything that was fake. Get your story, For every 10,00 good citizens there are 1 of you who thinks they know something. I get contacted by buyers stating they read into statements with no merrit from members like you. At first they voice concerns only to find out your only full of hot air. Prove your allegations! I no longer want to deal with stupidity such as you are posing in this thread.

Re: Bassett Racing

I have some questions...hope I'm not too late...

1. Is Bassett Bikes USA & Paul Bassett affiliated at all with Bassett Racing or are they two totally different companies? I understand that Paul's dad founded the header manufacturing company, I just want to know if the header co(Bassett Racing) has any relation with Bassett Bikes USA.

2. You mention that you will be making Peddlepower and Privateer retro frames soon. With Peddlepower retro bikes already in existence, will yours be different in design?

3. You mention you will be making new Privateer frames. Privateer was a fairly small brand in its day. Most "vintage bmx collectors" who even remember Privateer would say it's a fairly obscure brand(currently only 2 in the museum). Do you think a revival of the small, short-lived Privateer brand will sell frames to the average retro cruiser buyer on a SE Big Ripper who most likely hasn't even heard of Privateer?

4. Now that Bassett is back in production with an endless supply of Star Cruiser decals with the original design, will you finally admit that the Bassett Star Cruiser frame decals that you were selling a couple years ago on ebay as "NOS" were, in fact, newly made? I know they were new. I purchased them from you, 562bikeman, and compared them to the originals that had been on my frames for over 30 years. I'm just curious if you're ready to be honest about it now.

Re: Bassett Racing

First of all the decals you bought were nos.I took the original decals to Dilco, they made the original decals in the 80's, before the first run in may off last year. if you feel there is a discrepancy return them. I gave Mark Darcy a few NOS 80's sets I still had and yes, there is a difference in the chevron due to the overlay. I made them that way so one can tell the difference. I can assure you that the ones you received were the originals as they were no longer for sale when the new ones came out. Secondly The privateers will be a new school aluminum frame for race. Consider the source of the Peddlepower being made and the fact the person making them had nothing peddlepower or Webco.

Paul Bassett is where I received the decals from that you purchased, again, the newer decals were made this year. Paul Bassett is a principle owner of Bassett to date and he is the one fabing the frame sets with myself, so yes Paul is very involved. Your decal are 100% NOS if you have any issues with them send them back, of coarse there is a difference in the 80's issue to our new ones. There are other people making the decals, pads and even frame sets that are not authorized to so, if you know anyone who is doing so pass it on, Thanks

Talk all you want about the legitimacy of your "NOS" decals...they are 100% bogus. I know plenty of other collectors who have been around a long time and have had their own dealings with you(562bikeman) in the past. There's numerous threads on various forums about your shady/dishonest deals in regards to fake vintage BMX parts.

As for this one single issue concerning the "NOS" Bassett decals I purchased from you. Here's my proof...

On the left is an original, 35 year old Bassett headtube decal. On the right is your "NOS" decal you sold me before ever going into production with these new retro frames. The color is different, the font is different, the size is different, and the backing of the original decal is yellow/aged and your "NOS" on the right is brand spanking new white, fresh off the press.

Of the numerous late 70's and early 80's Bassett survivors I've owned, and my friends own(I'm talking dozens), that still retain their original finish and decals....ALL of them have decals that match the one on the LEFT. I've yet to find one original bike with stickers that look anything like your fake "NOS" stickers.

I guess Bassett made their bed! 562 clearly just said that he got your decals from Paul himself.
