RIGHT vs LEFT!!!!

What foot forward is collectively the best at BMX?????   This would be all time.....  I bat for team left foot forward, so I am obviously a bit biased.  BUT!  A few amazing rampers come to mind....

What team to you play for???  Doesn't matter if you are goofy/dick footed, just matters what your dominant front foot is on the pedals.

GO!!

You don't see dudes going *this* high with their right foot forward...... just sayin!!! :lol::lol::lol:

Re: RIGHT vs LEFT!!!!

Yeah, I ride left foot forward and normally turn right.    (But I skate, snowboard, and wakeboard right foot forward).  (And do mostly left peg flatland tricks... hang5's etc.)

But, the goofy foot thing is pretty interesting (people who turn in the direction of their front foot).  If I remember right, Ryan Nyquist and Rick Moliterno do.... But, they also do airs and 360's both directions so . . . .

Nyquist... left forward and turning left....

Re: RIGHT vs LEFT!!!!

I ride right foot forward and turn to the left. Last year I was racing and tried to get in an extra pedal before the first jump; I ended up with my left foot forward off the jump and was squirrely as hell and almost lost it.

Not trying to hijack the thread but taking it a bit farther I'd be interested to know the breakdown of how right handed people and left handed people ride.

I'm right handed, ride right foot forward,  and turn/spin to my left.

Re: RIGHT vs LEFT!!!!

Left foot forward, as Zeus intended. And I ride vert as if I were riding waves frontside, as Poseidon intended. Anything else is Loki's work.

Re: RIGHT vs LEFT!!!!

I never understood you weirdo BMX'ers talking about Goofy & Regular Foot , when riding bikes .

Wikipedia seems to answer my question .

In BMX, there is a de facto relationship between footedness and preferences of grinding position and of mid-air turning direction. The terms "regular" and "goofy" do not indicate a foot preference as in boardsports, but rather they point out if the rider's footedness has the usual relationship with their grinding and mid-air turning preferences. For example, consider the following classes of riders:

right-footed riders who prefer turning counter-clockwise in the air, and grinding on their right.
left-footed riders who prefer turning clockwise in the air, and grinding on their left.
Both classes are of equal size and would be considered "regular". "Goofy" would describe riders whose trick preferences do not match their footedness: a rider who prefers to grind on the opposite side as do most is considered a "goofy grinder"; one who prefers to turn the opposite direction in mid-air as do most is considered a "goofy spinner". Few riders have either goofy trait, but some riders may have both.

Re: RIGHT vs LEFT!!!!

I think of it more like skateboarding and surfing, left foot front is regular, turning left on the top of a ramp or wave is frontside.

I used to ride Left foot forward but switch for certain stuff.

Would love to find my old Dirt Bike.  It was stolen in Pompano Beach, Florida in about 1996.  It's a '92 with the block graphics on a Green frame.  Pitchforks, Slam bars, King Headset, GT (DK-style) stem and GT/Profile cranks.  Superlace hubs.  Would really love to put this back in my collection.

Re: RIGHT vs LEFT!!!!

I'm pretty messed up. Predominantly right foot forward, unless manualing or doing something that'll set me up fakie. Rollbacks with a freecoaster - left foot forward. Hop 180's require me to initiate right forward & switch to left before landing. Learning manuals to tail taps & disasters this past summer was a treat as due to manualing left foot forward meant I had to also relearn those tricks opposite footed.

Left handed, left foot forward, can't do much more than a 180* either direction, but feel a lot more comfortable spinning to the right.

Re: RIGHT vs LEFT!!!!

Right handed but kick with my left foot.

Right foot forward, spin counter clockwise.

Grind both sides, if I grind. Spend my spare time stacking dirt these days, when my back is hating me.
