1981 Takara Outlaw

1981 Takara Outlaw
Budget bike shop quality bike of the era.

I found this at a swap meet and it was the same model that I had for my first BMX bike when I was a kid.  It was mostly restored when I got it but it was spray bombed a matte black.  I stripped it and painted it to a color very close to the original.  After 2 full strip downs and paint, I'm happy with the end result.  I also found a few of the missing parts to make this a true replica of the bike I once had.  I remember when my parents bought me this bike from a local independent distributor.  Later, our whole family had a fleet of Takara 10 speeds as well, which my mom still rides hers to this day.  With the heavy duty spokes, and the fact this bike is a tank made from Hi-Carbon Steel, it's fairly durable.  The "T" gussets make this bike stand out from the rest.  ACS front hub, Bendix coaster, Astabula stem, Sugino chainwheel.

Re: 1981 Takara Outlaw

Here is some reference material from a 1979 Takara product catalog.
