Team Cycle- Anyone know the history of Team Cycle BMX Parts?
I just picked up a Team Cycle Curb Cruiser BMX Scooter with 14 wheels, a band brake and some cool 80's parts. Looks like it is between 1987 and 1989. I remember Team Cycle as a parts company that made mostly low end stuff like pads, grips, pegs, levers, stems and pedals, but never bikes or scooters. So, does anyone have info on Team Cycle. For Instance were they a division of a larger company in Japan or Taiwan? Who was the US distributor? Did they make parts for other companies?

Yes, Team Cycle made lower end parts. Sold in Hardware, Department, and some variety stores in the 80's.
Made in Taiwan products. Distributed by Cycle Products Co. in York, PA. during the 80's.

I found the exact same scooter the other day, lol. The parts are all good stuff. Team Cycle was the parts brand they sold at K-Mart and other dept stores. Not sure about the scooter tho. It has some pretty good parts on it and the band brake rear hub I hear guys talk about all the time on pages. I personally dont like freestyle, lol
I got lots of stuff, what you need? lol

Team Cycle was sold at my local Caldor store. They basically packaged
Taiwanese parts as Team Cycle brand. I bought some brakes that were
Chang Star MX 1000 knock-offs. I also bought some pedals that were Victor
XCII knock-offs.
They also sold pads, stems, helmets, brake pads, chains, number plates,
seat post clamps, forks, tires, and a crap load of other stuff. It was all knock-
off. I never saw scooters or complete bikes though.

Team Cycle was a brand name for a distributor of parts made by other companies Kind of like the Taiwanese version of Tioga.

Re: Team Cycle- Anyone know the history of Team Cycle BMX Parts?
I only had money for Team Cycle when I was first getting into BMX. While they were obviously not the same as "Brand Name" components, when upgrading a Huffy or Murray they did the job. I had multiple number plates, and pad sets, as well as a Redline/Cook brothers knock-stem that was much better than the single pinch gooseneck on my AllPro. Still have some NOS Team Cycle pads for nostalgia.
