Re: Haro Master Thread!!! Let's see em??

I'm kinda torn myself, really been thinking of going with an OG white Dominator to offset all the black.  Maybe white grips but the white tires don't look great with Coral to me.

That frame looks great btw, would love to see how you choose to build it

Seeing yours guys makes me want to go with black parts again.  Origianally I made up my mind to use black parts and gathered some.  But then I got a deal on a white black font Dominator and I got all the white parts.  I can't go back my wallet can't take it.
...sorry had a crappy phone 5 years or so ago back when I got the f/f........

You should... big_smile
I like both combinations (blk & wht) but all 3 (grips, seat and tires) have to be the same color... I really love the look of black mags on coral red bikes but only when they have the black forks and bars... I tried putting some blk peregrine masters on mine and it didn't look right at all. Black mags w white tires look fire on coral red bikes! cool

Thanks guys.
Yeah...mine has the chrome fork.
...and efi4eye   I do think black tires make the Coral pop more.

Late 85, 86 Master I picked up last week. “Almost” all original down to the tires minus the Spin Tech that appears to have been switched out many years ago. http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/27095/4216f2c7-93da-4bb5-bfae-b3c1b97eb6585c06915e63.jpeg

Anybody remember that NOS, complete in-the-box 86 Master from like 8 years ago?  Dan Durr found  it. That was the only NOS complete 80s-era Haro I’ve ever seen. It was unreal and in perfect condition, still all wrapped up.

And what happened to it?  Dan sold it to somebody, who then proceeded to part it out completely on EBay. To this day, that bothers me.  I contacted the seller and offered him $5K for it, but I guess he felt he was sitting on a windfall that would make him rich, so he never even replied.  Well I followed those auctions and it totaled out to much less than I offered.

I’m still bothered by that bike getting parted out by a seller that just didn’t give a crap about it.

That's crazy! I don't even remember where I found that bike, I just remember it was amazing! I was more into enjoying cleaning up original survivors at that time I believe. Someone came along and made me an offer on it that I couldn't refuse, I think it was several thousand, but that was a long time ago. If the buyer is the one who parted it out they most definitely made several mistakes. That bike in its entirety is worth more than its parts in my opinion just because of what it represents. I was trying to find a photo but I came up short, I know I took some but I must have deleted them.

Dan you parted that bike out yourself. You told me about it through text.

Here is a mostly OG master (except for a few brake smals, tires, cables and grips) that will NEVER be parted.  It has quickly rose ranks with one of my daughters as her favorite bmx in our collection.

Re: Haro Master Thread!!! Let's see em??

Does anyone know the standover ht of a 1992 ground master.  The distance from the top of the bb shell to either the bottom of the top tube junction?

Standover is measured from Center of BB to either top of seat tube (grown up bikes) or center of top tube/ seat tube junction.  We all need to be on the same page here.  It drives me nuts how the industry and individuals all have different definitions and terms.  Adds to the confusion.

agreed
I just figured if someone went to their bike it would be easiest to just measure from the top of the bb shell to the bottom of the top tubes.  that's all I was really curious about, which is why I specified that measurement.  perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned standover ht  smile

Re: Haro Master Thread!!! Let's see em??

Hello guys.  I have some questions regarding a newer generation master frame.  I'm seeing this chrome master, that looks nothing like anything else on the market.  It's a recent frame too.  What separates this is that is has separate cable guides running all the way underneath each of the top tubes, for one of those odd setups where you never run a splitter for the lower gyro cable; so each cable to directly to each arm of the u-brake caliper.  Also, this u-brake caliper mounts on the under side of the SEATstays not the chain stays (thank god cuz top of chainstay mounted brakes suck)
I cannot figure out what this is.  I've never seen another like it.  I don't have any pics because the guy showed it to me for a minute and that was it.  And I doubt it was a fake cuz this guys knows bikes.  (he's a semi pro if not pro rider)

Threadless isn't "old school", sorry lol.  Thank you Linn Kastan, Scott Breithaupt, Bob Haro, Eddie Fiola, Martin Aparijo, Kevin Hull, Jose Yanez, Matt Hoffman & the rest for leading the way & keeping the flame lit.  Without you guys we'd have nothing.  (And one more thing; WHATS IT MADE OUT OF?!?! Aluminum? Hi-ten? Cro-mo? Titanium? PUT IT IN THE DESCRIPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Sounds legit.
The 2016, 2017, and 2018 Haro Master (Flatland version) frame has the cable guides running along the underside of the top tubes - as well as seat-stay mounted u-brake.

Here's a pic of my 2017 with that same rear-brake setup.
It's a great frame design.
