your decoster was made in febuary of 1981, in chatsworth, cali.
your goose, was made in november of 1980 in chatsworth....and isnt a super unless a "T" is stamped prior the the rest of the serial such as "TCK0"
hayd3012 wrote:
what would the model be if it began with a K is this a usa supergoose 3 ??
i would need the rest of the serial, if its just "K" followed by numbers, then the K stands for november, and the following number is the year. probably a standard goose.

Re: Mongoose Serial Number Info
to add, it seems that some get confused about the dropouts, the tapered dropouts with the 2 holes does not mean you have a super, these dropouts came on all goose frames in late 1980 and up....its depends on your frame color and serial, all supers were chrome.

Re: Mongoose Serial Number Info
my mongoose motomag is stamped CL 7 58481. can you give me some more info on the frame. it has the brake bridge, hole behind the seat clamp and the coaster tab welded on the frame. on the top tube is mongoose decal & chrome moly mfg in usa by reco ind, down tube motomag decal & seat tube has bmx products decal.
the bike sits on skyway tuff wheels/bendix coaster, redline forks, powerlite power bend hbars, oakley F1 grips, DB sugino head stem, bmx products seat post, shotgun jaguarll seat, tuff neck seat clamp, takagi cromo 180x28 one piece crank, snowflake chainring, kkt lightning pedals. i bought the bike from my buddy for $30. he had it in storage for more than 20yrs and he orginally purchased the bike in huntington beach, ca area. overall the bike is in great condtion, no dings or rewelds. can you help me out?

My serial # is I165950 which I believe is september of 1981 no TC in serial #. Bike is chrome. Sticker says supergoose. Maybe that TC is not completely accurate.

Re: Mongoose Serial Number Info
you are right about the year, but this breakdown of serials is not fool proof, the earlier models always had a stamping of "t" when they were supers or teams. your frame can mean 2 things, either the bike was chromed (which is very possible) or its a super made somewhere other than chatsworth. thats what the "TC" stood for.....my 81 goose starts j1***** which tells me it wasnt made in chatsworth, but was probably made overseas. i am still gathering all i can on these older gooses...so hopefully it will be fully covered before long...nicec bike by the way, and that is a supergoose sprocket on yours

Re: Mongoose Serial Number Info
I think that TC may be pre 81. the bike i have is bone stock even the mongoose stamped reflector has the original stainless steel bars and seat post. I don't think it has been re chromed.

Re: Mongoose Serial Number Info
i agree, i think they had supergooses made overseas, those lacked the "TC" stamp. same way the ealry diamonback's had a baseball behind their serials when they werent us made. so if you dont have a "C" before your serial, its overseas made, just like both my gooses...

Re: Mongoose Serial Number Info
Hey Lovethegoose, great thread. Here's another Mongoose serial number...
The serial number on the Supergoose I have in the museum is D104380. It has all its original stickers on it including two seatpost tube stickers. One is the white BMX products sticker and it has a copyright date of 1980. The other sticker is a chrome sticker from a bike shop in Sun Prairie, WIS.
The serial number seems like an oddball... What do you think?

Re: Mongoose Serial Number Info
Sorry for my delay in getting back to this..The retro supergoose is pretty much the same to look at as a 1982 supergooose sitting next to it, everything, but about 12 errors, eg front gusset holes are the wrong shape plus too big..little things really..transfers arent nice or right, the gold is too greenie..I've been a Mongoose dealer here for 7 years now (only owned a bike shop for 7 years) frame numbers mean stuff all today.. but they still use the same codes for bike box's ,Hence 2007 models are M7-### last year they were M6-### I belive the H in the frame number is the code for the factory but they will not say the facts on frame number..quite a few different brands have frame numbers now with H in them...I piont this out to people that ride things like redlines and bag mongoose..Look its made in the same factory as Mongoose ..that shuts them up. The goose retro's cost me around $250nz ($160usd about)
Please check out my bikes in my profile..I'd like to know more about my redline
