Thinking about selling it all

I have about 15 completes and parts galore. I don't really get on here much lately. I do most of my wheeling and dealing on FB pages. I really want a new car. At this point it seems like it'd be more of a relief to sell it all. Anybody ever feel like this?

But how? No reserve eBay? I don't have time to list everything and babysit my thread, relist what doesn't sell and whatnot.

Completes never sell unless they are way under priced so if thats the case, keep them.

I would say no reserve on ebay is the way to go to get the most money out of it by letting the market & demand decide the value but you have to part everything out as most people don't buy completes never mind that many of them plus more unless it is a steal of a price so you have to decide what's more important the money for the car or getting rid of it all at once????

Re: Thinking about selling it all

Nope, I have 8 S&M's that i bomb around and race on, my 8 Y/O's STAATS race bike, My 6 Y/O's 81 Kuwi race bike, 6 runabout bikes that get ghostridden and left in the rain, my wife's 2-26" bikes (79 Schwinn and 83 Kuwahara), a 20" MTN bike, a 24" MTN bike, 2-26" MTN bikes, my 79 BRC with shocks all round and I am currently working on a 81 HUTCH Pro Racer.

Bikes take up a lot of space but they are just too damn fun and my entire family love riding so i am keeping them all. smile

Re: Thinking about selling it all

I sell most off local and sold 15 completes last week. Most off CL and friends of friends . True I don't get Ebay retail  pricing + mark up. But I can move forward and with no fees. My wallet stays full. I try to keep the collection down to around 15 complete bikes. I have kept only the ones I really care about all the rest can go away. Trust me I have had 50 at one time and I feel your pain. Good luck BL

Re: Thinking about selling it all

Don't sell at less than you want unles you really need to. Just list it and bump when you get to it. Realistic prices short of what the parts go for separately will still sell if someone is serious about owning it and not pulling a nickel.

Re: Thinking about selling it all

Ryan, yes I've been there a few times. It literally all comes down to what you want more. I do my thinking at bedtime, laying in the dark with pen/paper at my side in case i need to make notes.  Once you know which you want more, make sure a second or third time... then go for it & don't look back. I have found myself looking back & had to remind myself what i was sacrificing it all for. Also, you may want the Porsche more... but do you really wanna sacrifice the BMX for it? Two things only you can answer BMX brother. Good luck!

Re: Thinking about selling it all

I'm feeling the same way now.  I've got a few bikes in the my bikes category, but have a lot more completes that would bring decent money.  I'm trying to restore a car and am considering getting rid of everything minus the few that I ride.  I know I'll never get what they are worth to me.

On the other hand, I think I'd regret it and it'd be tough to find again.  I think that's normal in any hobby.  My last hobby was a restoration of a 1973.5 Jeep Wagoneer, towing package with a 401 (impossible to find) and was my daily driver.  I sold it 7 years ago, because I thought I wanted something different and regret it every time I see one.

Good luck!!!!!

My 2 cents.

Re: Thinking about selling it all

It's funny when I see these posts, it makes me ride the two bikes I have and not go nuts buying all my grails. The wife actually told me get whatever you want-cost doesn't matter-and I won't pull the trigger. I think its just the thought of not riding what I have and just looking at it- I can't stare at something I want and not use it. JMC 24"- it's gettin' jumped. Nomura 24"- it's gettin' jumped. Kappa 24"- its gettin' jumped.
No carpet queens ever.

Re: Thinking about selling it all

Load up all of your bikes on a trailer, and take them to the dealership as a down payment on a new WRX!!!!!

Wanted- White Industries Freewheel 19T and 20T, and Big Gulp bars- because I think they look goofy enough to cruise with!

Kind of thinking about a 996 Turbo, they're about the same price up front, just cost quite a bit more for Mx
