Haro zebra. Bought it to replace stepson's stolen forum, but ye discovered chicks and souped up hondas, sooooo....this green beauty is gonna be my dirt/trails bike. Parts are mainly stragglers from some recent builds. 25 lbs target. Gold accents are a nod to the early 80s "team" era.

I really like builds like this.  A modern rider with some definite throwback.  Looking forward to seeing what wheels you go with to keep the weight down. Colors already looking great.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON?

I’ve been working on and off on these four and feels like not much progress.  Need to pick one and finish one off or this will drag on forever.  Wife wants the CW done so she can ride it; guess that solved the problem.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON?

I’m just getting started on a 1984 Diamond Back Formula 1 serial number 4 A 651 ??; 1984 January number 651.  I think it’s rare.  It seems it has the red decals like I’ve seen in images of 1983 but a 1984 date code in the serial.  Made in Japan.  I couldn’t find an image of a Formula 1 with the handlebars I have.  In fact, I couldn’t find them anywhere.  The horizontal crossbar on the handlebars is an oval shape and extends through the vertical bars.  It sticks out on either side of the vertical bars. I would like to restore it.  It’s a complete original. Wondering where to go for restoration questions and parts provider.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  My e-mail is psmlds@aol.com if you can help.

Thanks. Ive been trying acheive that mix on every build since the 00's. Nice to know people dig it. I snatched a set of haro wheels which came off the haro blyther bike (FST?). I kinda like the big hub look again and think the bigger hubs make shorter stiffer spokes. Ive got some other ideas for some tweaks but im pretty sure those wheels are a great low cost high performance set. I really think the sata rims of a few years back are really stiff and fairly light for a bargain price cause everyone wants chrome. Im a polished fan. I just need to slow down, not stop.lol

Doing a study on how to make a looptail rear end. My tubing bender does not have a small enough die to get the tight radius I'd like, what we have here is a compromise with the tools I have at my disposal. I'd like to do more but 3k for a Di Arco tubing bender seems out of the realm for something I don't do for a living...perhaps I can make a single purpose bender for loops? We'll see.

I Added street tires that are 24”x2.1” from the 24x1.75” and the pitbull setup were not long enough to accommodate the larger tires, so I had to change the brakes out to the dia-comp 1000’s and I added a front brake also and changed the chain to black from gold. I’m awaiting the padded drop nose Gt seat in the mail.
