Truth is that, at its core, wrenching is all about solving problems.  While solving these problems can be gratifying, failing to solve them can be frustrating — especially when failure gets in the way of achieving goals, or else costs money that hadn’t been accounted for.  Such is the case with the Robbie.  As for the Boss, it’ll be good to have another size cone wrench anyway.  Despite my little rants and outbursts, it’s all just a matter of how I approach things.  I’m grateful for having things to approach — it’s all good!

Amen brother, wrenching can be a bitch but also very meditative/gratifying. I always like to keep trust it'll work out whatever the problem and challenge (especially when wrenching on older cars).

Absolutely.  I'd love to see these older cars you speak of. cool

Just a 25yro Honda 4dr Si and 21yro BMW E36 hatch, you like to see those?

Bought an 80s Kent scooter for 5 bucks and did a cheap quick restore on it for my son. There's the before and after shots.https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/262687/screenshot_20200524-13532225ecafa7fdc.png

Re: WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON?

I have a question for all the SE fans out there.  I have an 86 PK Ripper frame in which the rear drop outs are in pretty bad shape.  I have seen several like this and most just use drop out savers to cover the damage.  Is this the route to take or should I have them tig welded and repaired.  Then install drop out savers to protect them?   Id like to hear your thoughts on which way move forward.  Thanks

Save the money frame savers / drop out savers
I'm lucky to have a freestyle bike in which the frame standers do that job for me. Mine are all messed up too

This is my loooong term build. No rush and it keeps evolving. I got rid of ALL 25 other projects for sanity sake and I’m enjoying the slow pace of this project. Going for an alien, ufo, futuristic but old school look if that even makes any sense. My 8 year old son has had 85% of the input on this one. He IS an alien from another world so I figured he was my go to.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON?

My first new school build was for a client.  I was very impressed with DK’s precision machining, and the overall look and finish.  Plus, assembly was a piece of cake.  This bike is dope!

Re: WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON?

A running project for over three years, it was 4am when I realized that after all we have been through — crank spindle issues, sourcing custom spindle bolts, 11th hour running of new brake line because the transplant was only a couple of inches too short — I need to either file the axle down, or swap in a slotted front axle for my 1996 Robinson Pro 24.  UUUGGGHHH!!!
