Anyone know the story behind the skyway mags and the hubs on the '84's? I see some bikes have plastic front hubs while others do not. Mine has a plastic front hub and aluminum rear hub. Was there a mid year change?

probably a late 84 year change. that being said and the fact that late 84 builds would be 85 model's, most 84's would have aluminum front hubs with steel coaster or aluminum rear freewheel hub. kinda  rare wheel combo in 84 only...

Found the answer to my first question. Looks like sometime in April 1984 is when GT offered complete bikes.

Feb. 84 non stamped. You can see more of this before I put the Z Rims on it in my bikes. Ive got a chrome 12/84 that can be seen in my bikes as well. I want to call it an 84 but most see it as an 85.

To be honest yeah, I don't do much more then listen to my Snell copies. That and I hate wearing my glasses. Thought they looked too small to be Altec's lol

By the way, I recently picked up a 84 chrome Performer. Just trying to pick up some of the parts to finsih her up

There is a couple of '84 frame sets on eBay right now. An unstamped 3/84 and a 9/84. Not mine, just sharing.

Non stamped.  It's no longer available on eBay.  It was a nice frameset.
