Re: %#* 1984 GT Performer Thread *#%

Here's my May of 1984 GT. Original owner.  I bought the frame and fork new in 1984. The bike has seen better days but will be brought back to presentable condition soon.

Is it my eyes or is there a GT stamp on the cut?  Better pics in the submitted section for this bike.   Ive never seen a stamped 84. Cool.

Re: %#* 1984 GT Performer Thread *#%

I need to find one of these crank setups. It's been too many years since I been in this game. What brand is this? Any idea where to find a setup?

The power disc & chain ring are both Tuf neck, the crank is SR and the pedals are also SR mp470

Re: %#* 1984 GT Performer Thread *#%

Couple of questions,

I recall that the 84 GT Pro Performer was only available as a frame set when it first came out? If my memory is correct, when did GT offer a complete PP bike?

Also, did the frame design change late in 1984 or was it a 1985 change only?

Found the answer to my first question. Looks like sometime in April 1984 is when GT offered complete bikes.

Nice.  Mine from back in the day was a May of '84.  Can't wait to see it returned to its former glory.

Re: %#* 1984 GT Performer Thread *#%

I think this is what he means by the cut. It's where the GT STAMP  would normally be.

Here it is. Back to rideable condition once again. I set the bike up the same way I did it in 1984 when I built it as a kid tongue

Re: %#* 1984 GT Performer Thread *#%

Anyone know the story behind the skyway mags and the hubs on the '84's? I see some bikes have plastic front hubs while others do not. Mine has a plastic front hub and aluminum rear hub. Was there a mid year change?
