Prayers go out to the family. One of the nicest bmx legends I had a chance to meet. His products were top notch and I'm glad I had the chance to own a few JMC frames.

Re: R.I.P. Jim Melton

I never met the man, but I did see his son, Mark, race ABA A Pro a number of times.  I am happy to say that I rode Alain's (member alainmagana) Andy Patterson about a week ago.  I generally don't ride 20s anymore, but I know a great one when I ride one.  High quality product, and from all accounts, high quality customer service and an all-around good guy.  Who else takes the time to personally certify each and every frame whose owner makes such a request?  Nobody I'm aware of, and for that simple fact, the man has earned my respect.  Just reading about the amount of pride Museum members who own JMCs have in their JMCs, and marveling at private collections that are clear demonstrations of the owner's membership in one of the most exclusive clubs...RIP, Mr. Melton.  I'm sure you touched more lives than you'll ever know.

Re: R.I.P. Jim Melton

Very sad news. My first race bike was a Shadow. Met him a few times over the years at Rockford. Was a very nice guy to sit and chat with. He will be missed  but never forgotten.
