1986 Cycle Craft Pro XL

SOLD  This frame was made in March 1985. I know this because the serial number indicates the month of manufacture and the fact that it does not have a gusset behind the BB makes it an early one. Generally, you cannot date a pre-1992 Cycle Craft by the serial numbers other than the month--not sure about the later ones. My brother bought a black to white fade Cycle Craft XL when they first came out in 1985 which he still has to this day. It is one of the best riding bikes I've ridden. A friend of ours thought the same so he bought a teal to white fade one in 1988 when the paint splatter decals first came out. I decided to gift him a frame set to build up so I bought this one for him. The original paint was no nice I just couldn't bear the thought of him repainting it to the color his original one was so bought another one for him and kept this one for myself. I wanted to buy an early Cycle Craft made Zeronine Pro XL, but found out they didn't make the XL until after production left Cycle Craft. I originally ran Zeronine pads on this bike as you can see in the last pic, but recently sold them. I kind of miss them. Anyhow here' s the parts breakdown: Frame/Fork: Cycle Craft Pro XL Head Set: Tioga Bear Trap II Cranks: Redline 401 Flight 180mm BB: Redline Tecmatic Sprocket: Redline Flight 44T Chain: Izumi Crazy Chain (was NOS) Pedals: SR Speedtrap sealed Cages: DK D-Kages Seat: Kashimax Aero Post: Revcore Clamp: TNT Bars: Powerlite Pro Grips: Oakley O-Wing Stem: Revcore Pro Brake: Odyssey Pitbul Brake Lever: Dia-Compe Tech 4 Brake Pads: Odyssey Rims: Araya 7X (chrome) Hubs: TNT Deringer Freewheel: Suntour 16T Tires: Michelin Hi-Lite BX 1.75/1.50 Flex Fighter: DK D-Lock (was NOS) Pad Set: 1st gen Flite (originals)

Re: 1986 Cycle Craft Pro XL

First off, nice bike! Second off, its not a 1985, it's late 84' because it's missing the rear chain stay brace. Notice also it has multiple bends on the chain stays, probably around November or December 84. The only thing it needs is older powerlite bars, those are mid school bars, besides that it's pure awesomeness right there!! cool
