The best thing about all of you is the fact there's no ,  " I only ride Old School " attitudes . Plenty good mix of OS , MS & NS . You guys took advantage of technology and use it to your benefit . I'm 3 years shy of 40 and turn 38 this October but I appreciate seeing each and ever one of you having fun and not worrying about finding the next score , so you can part it out for " cool points " on this site . I honestly started riding BMX again in 2010 . Other than that , I've skated and didn't ride any bike after the age of 16 . cool

Well said smile Personally, i know this is a bmx forum but I'd like to see u post a video of u skating!  I heard u were a great skater bitd.smile

This video is from a recent father's day race at our local track. My 14 year old son and I have been talking trash for awhile about who is faster. We both had the chance to find out...

Great might me an overstatement , I don't know about that because there are so many guys older than me still tearing it up , balls-out , rad . All my stuff is on VHS from the late 80's & Mid 90's . I'll film some stuff when I hit up the skateparks in Columbus this Summer . cool

That would be cool! I don't skate anymore but I've always loved it. Have allot of old skate movies/dvd's. Loved watching the x-rated this year.

Re: the old guys who still want to ride thread!

Got back into riding a couple years ago.  44 now and still enjoy my old school, retro and the new school rides.  My style is old school though, even on the new school bike.

Re: the old guys who still want to ride thread!

Turned 41 this year, but still 18 on the weekends.big_smile Got back into riding a few years ago and really just mess around at the local ramps and parks in town. My 5 yr old rides with me and he loves it just as much as dad. It's great to just get out after work and spend some time together. As of now we just ride street/park and some flatland(on my old school stuff) but  I'm seriously thinking  about getting him to racing in near future.
Now that I'm riding again, I enjoy so much I'm really surprised I stopped back then. Glad I'm back at it.

Re: the old guys who still want to ride thread!

I've grown tired of the whole "collector" scene....I just love to ride BMX.
I used to host some Shows and events, now I've decided anything I do is going to be rider based. I've been working with the Philly Pumptrack, and looking forward to helping to open other locations in the City. It's a shame....there's so many guys around here that collect, but most of them never seem to want to come out and ride unless it's a cruise to show off their bikes. There are some of the guys into flatland that do ride a lot, but nobody else seems into coming to ride dirt. Ive drifted away from the site & scene and only come on now and then since I'd rather ride and hang with riders. Not that I'm THAT hardcore a rider, but if I wanted to take scenic cruises, I'd ride my road bike. I'm 46 and last years crash almost killed me and I still need to have some surgeries before I can race again, but the day I stop riding BMX and trying to DO BMX because I am no longer physically able is the day I sell off all my bikes

riding the Philly Pumptrack at least 2-3x's a week

Re: the old guys who still want to ride thread!

I love bikes from every era, with Golden Age and New School rides being my faves. I'm 47 and have been doing alot of curb riding and jumping lately, trying to work on my sense of balance. Had the street scene arrived in 1984 instead of 92-93 I would never had abandoned bmx. The whole factory-sponsored freestyle era just made me want to behead somebody's grandma.

Fast forward about a year and I was still heavily into bmx, so my Mom and stepdad agreed to upgrade me to a lighter, faster bike, and by that time there was a serious hot shop in my town. I ended up with a Torker. Then I started racing (occasionally) at the local track, but I was the guy who always got fourth in the main. I just could not trophy, and at the same time I was heavily into hardcore punk rock, so I sold my bike and joined a band. I also found bmx to be filled with too many All-American, upper-middle-class fagstix for my taste. I hated guys like Greg Hill and their endless desire for more, more, more. The freestyle guys made me puke even more. However, my love for the BIKES remained.

i concur .......

Racing was a beautiful lie. 99.99% of the kids who loved it not only had no family support, but just didn't win jack shit. I read through every single mag on oldschoolmags.com over the last six months and I found ONE article that mentioned god-given talent for bicycle racing.
ONE.
