Re: Just placed my Iconix order!

People were not dumb in that thread, they are pretty smart actually.Smart for not buying into that overpriced bike that does not even exist.

I'm sure Bob is saying to himself after all this "darn they did not fall for it,time to think up something else now".

Re: Just placed my Iconix order!

Seems like nowadays, the retro bikes that come out are overpriced and not many made of them.
I see some of them being bought and then re-sold within 6 months anyway.

Like a few on the for sale threads here.

Re: Just placed my Iconix order!

So Iconix is Bob Haro's company? Haro Bicycle is owned by someone else? Bob Haro sees no residual income from Haro Bicycle? Is this correct? I can't figure out why Bob Haro wouldn't make bikes through Haro Bicycle? Am I missing something?  hmm

Nobody ever said Bob was dumb.It takes smarts to hatch up a money making plan like the Ikonix venture.

Wonder what's next for Bob,perhaps a remake of the Tom Vu real estate money making seminars?

Re: Just placed my Iconix order!

On a personal level - I actually have great respect for Bob Haro - met him on a couple of occasions and to this day he is still one of the most humble, personable and genuine old school iconic personas I've had the privilege of meeting ----- pretty well rounded average cat (with crazy illustrative/design skills, though ! Has much more to offer then most, yet carries himself quite modestly cool )

And fwiw - his latest venture doesn't traipse on exploiting the old, as his former label holders now do....

All joking aside I have to agree. I interviewed him yrs ago and we played phone tag for about a week before we actually were able to hook up. Super nice guy, very humble and personable. Loves talking about the old days. I just wish he would've went about this new project differently.

Re: Just placed my Iconix order!

And just to add, can u imagine had he not sold Haro and kept moving forward through the tough times of the early 90's, and made it through to the X-Games, ESPN coverage, Video Game era, etc. not to mention all of the technological advancements over the last 20yrs. Can u imagine the cool stuff he probably could've come up with? Then today his Ikonix idea probably would've been met with a different reaction.

Ageed on not exploiting the old,but he sure tried to take advantage of the "older" bmx generation that's for sure.

Same shit different pile as they say.
