Dogs

In addition to bikes and guitars, I love dogs. More than people some times (most of the time lol). We have 3. Two from shelters and a pure breed.

Lets see your best friends!

Yeah....she's fixed. It would be cool to have 8-10 little Rottie pups running around. I would probably wanna keep them all.

Sorry to hear about your loss. That really sucks. 12 years is a great long wonderful life though for a doggie. It's great to see that you found Mitzi!

I really think, as hard as it is, when we lose a pet, is to grieve for a few weeks, then, go out and get a new companion!

Re: Dogs

This is Chaos and RayRay. Chaos(left) is a 4 year old American bulldog that was born deaf. I adopted him about a year ago. RayRay (right) is a 9 year old boxer mix that was born blind. I adopted him when he was 6 months.

Dogs are amazing creatures. When one sense doesn't work the others pick up the slack. These two are like my children and I don't know what I do without them.

Re: Dogs

I had a Rott / Black lab mix. basically an all black Rottweiler. He was the Best dog I have Ever had. I got him from an animal rescue and he was the most loyal, awesome companion that i ever had. He was incredibly smart too. I trained him very well. but he was a hellion at first but then he mellowed out. I miss him so much every day, it still seems like every now and again i will hear him bark at the door like "let me in A Hole!".. but he is long gone but never forgotten. Everybody loved Damon, people whom i havent seen in years when i see them typically ask, "how's Damon?".. it bums me out totally.. but it is what it is. I want to get another dog really bad but when I lost Damon, It was by Far the Hardest and most painful thing that i ever had to deal with and I still hurt every day and its been more than 4 years. I just dont think that i could go through that ever again. I have a very difficult time sleeping at night because my bodyguard is no longer here, my co pilot is no longer riding shotgun, and when i leave the table to go get something to drink, the food is still there when i come back. I miss my dog, RIP to the big homie Damon, aka Mode, aka BigBigBigBigBigBigBigBig, aka Ol Dirt Dog.

Re: Dogs

This little bugger is Kylie.  She's about 6 years old now.  Every vet we've ever visited--and most people who visit our house--have threatened to steal her from us, because she's so damn adorable.  She's large for the breed (9.5 lbs or so), and atypical behavior.  She doesn't bark at anything unless she's startled (doorbell, etc).  She plays well with practically everyone and/or everything & is super friendly--and she's an attention whore.  She love snuggling and being a lapdog.  Even non-dog people love Kylie.

This is my little buddy. She's a 13" Beagle named Belle. Originally she was bought for our Daughter, but spends far more time with me. I have never been soo attached to pet before. She definately as a personality all her own.

Izzy as a baby, she is full grown now. A Boston Terrier crack head. If you have ever owned Boston, you would understand. The two playing together is priceless. Both are idiots. lol

Re: Dogs

You have to love dog threads!

We have 3. All have been rescues: a Lab/Golden that hates water roll ; an Akita/Border Collie mix that is protective as hell, but still as sweet as can be; a Rhodesian/hound mix that is the biggest baby but thinks he's badass.

Re: Dogs

So, a few years ago, we needed a dog. The kids are old enough and are asking, so we get hooked up with a rescue and they turn us on to a lady they work with who also happens to be an animal control officer in our area. She gets this pregnant Maltese-y dog transferred from a high kill shelter and the old girl is a mess, but is healthy, and within a week or so she has her pups at the animal control agent's house. We go over and pick out a pup from this litter.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/t1.0-9/228535_559441167409477_1816951078_n.jpg

We pick the only girl, she's second from the left. We named her India (like India ink). The mom gets adopted by a nice elderly man, and the other pups get adopted out as well. About a year later the pup is growing, settling in, hanging with the kids and cats, using the potty pads, but not great about going outside for potty time.

https://scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/t1.0-9/969605_564604536893140_494612794_n.jpg

About then we get a call from our now friend the animal control agent, saying the man who adopted the momma dog was entering hospice and couldn't keep her, would we foster her until she can be placed? Of course we could, and she's never left. She taught her daughter to be housebroken, is great with the kids and with the cats, and is SUPER appreciative.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/t1.0-9/31449_524515444235383_282790319_n.jpg

Not sure about lineage, Momma (Kara) looks like she might be Havanese or a Maltese mix, India has indicators that she might be a Maltipoo or a Havapoo. Regardless, they turned out to be great companions for my wife while I'm at work. Personally, I prefer Spaniels, but I just don't have the time for one.

Damn I feel your pain man. I know its hard but rescue another dog and raise it just like Damon. I'm sure he would like that. No dog will ever replace him but you can help another one out that might need someone like you.
