Re: How many are into old cars and BMX?

I have a long forgotten set of  15” Crager SS’s in the boxes, under the pool table in the game room at my parents house, where I put them Christmas Day in 1997, 23 years ago...I just remembered I took a pic of this Haro in front of that table. If you look closely under the table above the bend in the TT, you can see one of the wheels where apparently the box is open. But all 4 wheels and hardware are stacked there still waiting on that GTO.

Dug up some pics from the early to mid 80's of my 442, my brothers 71 Lemans convertible (factory endura nose, built 400) and some friends Olds & Pontiac's. White GTO wasn't owned by anyone I know but for years my brother and I talked about building one like it for him smile maybe it will help motivate you to figure out a way to fund that goat...https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/248286/20201212_083728_copy_907x5375fd4ce02d8.jpg

If I had a nickel for every time I've been cursed by a puppet I would have 2 nickels.  Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

This was my 1st car. My dad got it for me when I was 13 as a project for when I got my license. We put on a new carb, headers / exhaust, had paint / body work (done horribly) new top, etc. Had some electrical issues from a previous owner drilling through firewall, and into wiring harness? Trying to convert to hide-away headlights. I took to a friends house whose father was going to redo wiring. Well, things didn’t go well. He never got to it. I didn’t have the $ to deal with it. So it sat at his house. Eventually moved to a field at back his property. I finally got a guy with a tow truck to go get it and bring to my moms earlier this year. (Pics are from then) It makes me sick to look at it. Its just falling apart, rusting away. And I don’t have money to spend on it. It’s been 25 years and the ride home the day we bought it was my only real ride in it.
Literally my dream car.
My dad has since passed away, so theres lots of sentimental value.
Hopefully I one day have the time and money to have my first real drive in my first car...https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-image … 7399e.jpeg

Brother- What a great car....WOW! hey man I understand the money situation, but at a minimum get that thing inside a dry garage.

Old cars like that are simple (and relatively cheap) to get running and safely driving....it need not be perfect!

+1

You have to complete this project.... part of your life’s purpose, great car!

Agreed man- before it's too late...  I'd guess $5K would have it running driving decently.  Even if it needs a motor. $3000 for a decent used motor/ trans $2000 to sort out brakes wiring tires....etc   Worry about the looks later.  Just my 2 cents.  Best of luck!!

Re: How many are into old cars and BMX?

Those Pontiacs are so sweet!

This thread is making me depressed. I’ve got a large family, so $5k on a “luxury” item just to get it running, it just isnt in my budget right now. It sucks, but I chose to have my kids, and they are my purpose.
That said, I ain’t selling it. At some point, it will move up the priority list.

Re: How many are into old cars and BMX?

Define old; would 2001 count?  The car, that is, not the bike.  big_smile

Charger 500 in 1969 is a really rare car....and worth a mint now.   Pretty much just a trim package on a 70  But still.

Been there -  Passed on a 70 R/T Charger at $1500 because the tranny was slipping !  lol Of course I was 16 years old and that was a long, long time ago...
