Fake no question in my mind.

Can any of you give a quick blurb on why you suspect it's a fake? Want to edumacate myself tongue
Thanks in advance.

the lettering is not stamped for starters. more issues but that is a good start when looking for real vs. fake or new.

Yea I agree.  And if you look at the sellers other items he's got two more tuff necks (one inverted), questionable Bullseye cranks (w/new BB), and a ton of bolts as if he's got a line on manufacturing this stuff?  Kinda shady if you ask me.  hmm

Interesting. These guys are getting pretty good at making fakes.

Re: INVERTED PRO NECK: Real Or Real Fake

I'm 100% sure it is a REAL fake!!
Meaning its a real inverted stem
But it is a reproduction.
First clue is the pro neck stamp should be centered on a real stem
Also check out the marks on the wedge bolt, a real wedge bolt will only have 3 lines without the triangle. Next the big bolt that threads to the quill should not have any such marks on a real stem, I can see at least a triangle and a line on the big bolt. That's probably the biggest giveaway that this stem is fake. also the cap bolts are not correct.

Re: INVERTED PRO NECK: Real Or Real Fake

Robert Felcher is not to be trusted by his word . After several telephone conversations he sold me a guaranteed nos 3rd gen redline double clamp stem which turned out to be fake along with the recent flood of the same stems that are contaminating the bmx market . After several emails with no proposed refund Robert 'Robbery' Felcher claimed at 67 years old his memory is not as it was and now all my contact with him is ignored . Make up your own minds ....http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/106277/img_819858ac934a31.jpg

This cannot be done as the hole that accepts the shaft doesn't go through the lower part of the Alunimum body.

YES,  but the lettering looks to be CNC'd, not stamped, thats how you can tell the original Profile Spider from the "Retro" models, the retro models were stamped, and not always centered or level.

Doesnt work like that. There is a lip on the top where quill bottoms out to tighten in place and the cut out for the bars is on the top roll .... So if you fliped it over so the bar cutout is on the bottom the quill would not go in due to lip. If you filed out lip then quill would pull right through.

I mentioned this already too but I'm sure someone else will post the same thing, that they think it is a regular stem just flipped, roll which is impossible.

100X.. I agree, you can't flip a regular stem to inverted..

Re: INVERTED PRO NECK: Real Or Real Fake

I would say fake due to the hex head cap screws being kinda small in diameter. They ought to fit real close to the hole.

Re: INVERTED PRO NECK: Real Or Real Fake

The market is flooded with fakes right now. Be aware!
It looks like some of the pics in this thread are missing due to the photobucket fiasco. So I`m replacing mine:

This stem is fake:

And this stem is real:

Re: INVERTED PRO NECK: Real Or Real Fake

Can anyone suggest or point me in the right direction in finding a real one? I’m still learning about 80’s parts and bikes. I most certainly don’t want to be had on a near $200 stem! People suck

(Parts 84 Skyway TA:WTB-84 Sealed HF Suzue Hubs Red or Blue WTB-36h Araya Rims in chrome, Red or Blue. WTB-83/84 Kashimax Seat Blue or Red)  (WTB-99-2003 GT Ultrabox 20in Pro or  XL Complete or F/F)
Won’t deal with BigP, JayEdiesel, SteelHorses!!
