anyone build a 26" Klunker? show me
Those Transition Klunkers are sweet. I'm about to build a poor man's version out of a Schwinn Heavy Duti frameset that I should be getting next week. Looking for ideas.
Show me what you've got.
Im in this hobby for the nostalgia. Most of my bikes are ongoing projects.

Re: anyone build a 26" Klunker? show me
Man, I missed out on a clunker that appeared as "bike" on my CL, dam thing sat there for 2 months for $50 and noone touched it. I emailed them said I wanted it, but never got around to getting it as it was 2 hrs away. Was reposted with a better pic, turns out it was an old school 26" torker. Someone got a huge score.
So pissed, that got away. ;/

Are those Kenda's cruiser tires or knobby mtbs?
I had been looking for a set of red 26" MTB tires for the longest time, and couldn't find anyone that makes them still, ended up going the panaracer fire route

Re: anyone build a 26" Klunker? show me
My ol lady got me a Transition Klunker for my birthday last year, the bike is freakin sweet! You can't beat a killer bike for under 600 bucks that you can cruise the hood on and take on the dirt, I get many thumbs up and looks on it. Im rebuilding her old beach cruiser into a klunkier this year , I have an old set of Mt. bike tires, BMX wellgo pedals, BMX Sakae stem, and I ordered a set of Al's Rapid Transit (he is on here and has his own site and ebay page, ) cruiser bars, a set of ODI lock on grips , and I will pull off the chain guard and find a MT. bike or BMX seat and be good to go!

back in the day we chopped stingrays to race with, saved up for ashtabula parts and dreamed of fmf, dg, redline, and cook bros parts and frames.

Cool stuff! I want to build one, but need to see if I actually fit on one. I'm only 5'3"!

Re: anyone build a 26" Klunker? show me
90's aluminum Specialized Hardrock frame. I cut the rear dropouts off and tig welded on some 1/4" thick horizontal dropouts with disc tab. I eventually tig'd a mongoose-style gusset on the front. Not sure if this meets the definition if a klunker, but it was to me..

be on the trail tomorrow! I built it with a 7 speed coaster brake hub.
