Re: New "old stock" 3 bar CHAMPION frames....

I hate the whole deal... it's hard to believe that EVERY LITTLE DETAIL HAS BEEN WORKED OUT IN ORDER TO MAKE THESE FRAMES OUT OF OLD STOCK EXCEPT A COA or A DATE STAMPING. I call BS. If these guys were truly doing this in the interest of BMX, they would have taken the time to offer a COA, etc.

+1.  They are gonna make a chrome one too!  SE should take note as well as all the other retro brands.   These will all sell so quick.  Then, like "4130" stated, folks will resale them for even more.  Just you watch.  I think these are killer bikes, made in the USA.  I also think it's funny how worked up some of us get over old bicycles.  But I'm a jerk...

Welds are really nice, and it's all legit against my OG Champion I've had since '87.
If you are looking for a legit Champion...I say,"$1100 ain' SH*T!!" I'm gonna get another one while they are still around. So, all you guys in five years who hated can hit me up and pay TOP DOLLAR for it! tongueloltongue
I KEED! I won't sell the second one.
Anyone who isn't jumping up and down at the idea of having one is a dude who looked at his OG Champion as an "Investment"....
Not that they aren't precious...but, really? These are RECREATIONAL bicycles...i.e. FUN MAKERS.
HAVE FUN...
Plenty of things in daily life to get us all irritated...this is GOOD NEWS.
Thanks Bryan.
If anyone wants pics, I have some...not gonna peel mine out of the packaging until I take it to my fab dude for UPDATES!!!
Enjoy.

Just curious how you got the inside line to a 26" set already? The producer said they won't be available for another 4-6weeks?

Re: New "old stock" 3 bar CHAMPION frames....

I'm personally stoked to have an og 82 26 Champion to ride. Bought for my pleasure, and not an investment.  Still, I feel it's a shame to see Champion reissuing without an indicator it's new production. Would have been easy to stamp 2014 overlapping original serial number - so grinding an added stamp would destroy original stamp too; for those new issue buyers who might have plans to flip and deceive.

Re: New "old stock" 3 bar CHAMPION frames....

I've gotten into arguments with some of the guys that collect , regarding NOS and Reproduction Parts . But this whole fiasco will definitely harm the historical nature and legacy of Champion . I don't think it's fair in any way to the guys spending hundreds and thousands of dollars for legitimately produced Champion Frames / Forks / Bars , etc....I have no problem with a reproduced Champion frame , but trying to pass off old materials , welded-up in 2014 as " NOS " is bullshit .

Did I mention I hate that this brand is now tarnished? Hate it, Hate it, Hate it! Champion's Racing Roots run deep here in North Texas 90% of the team was composed of North Texas Riders BITD:

Many of which are close friends of mine to this day.

No doubt the folks in charge of this endeavor could have planned this better. First, they should have skipped the whole NOS idea. Call them a Champion 'recreation' with maybe the serial # overstamped or a commemorative plate of some kind welded on, and maybe some newly designed decals to clearly identify them as new.
Ideally using different shaped rear drops or something to that degree to keep them from being misrepresented down the road and I think more folks would have been receptive to the whole idea.

Ultimately, I think they'll sell all they make, and that's the goal of the whole enterprise from their viewpoint. As long as there are buyers for the repop stuff, it'll continue to be made. Get used to it and enjoy the truly OG stuff that you have for what it is.

Life goes on.

Re: New "old stock" 3 bar CHAMPION frames....

If anyone really cares to take care of knowing these from the survivors it's really not hard to do. If I'm not mistaken one has been sold on ebay and the serial number is listed in the completed auction. There are two for sale now and the serial numbers are listed in the auction. In the reference section or on the Champion page just add these numbers to a list of the 2014 assembled Champions. Members here or someone doing a search can always find them that way right here on the museum.

That is absolutely awesome.  I only see win from all angles. Original tubing, Original stampings, original welder, original eveything. The crime would be to let those pieces rot away unfinished. I am very glad they are finishing the work.  smile
