Yeah that is what I thought and I wouldn’t label my Ub2 rare as his.

Ask 12 different rednecks what’s the best round to take a deer, and you’ll get 12 different answers.  Just like this question posed to bike nerds.

Re: What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

A lot of 24" bikes listed here as the HG. Certainly my HG, but not "the" HG would be my very own 24" Norco Spitfire. It is the one bike I have, that I would never sell.

"The" HG? Well when you look up Holy Grail, it refers to "an object of great significance, is much desired, but is impossible (or nearly impossible) to find. I would say that the gold Hutch, while significant, is not impossible to find, impossible to attain maybe, but everyone knows where it is. So in this case, eliminating any bike that we know of it's where about's, what becomes "THE" One Holy Grail BMX, that hasn't been found, of great significance?

Re: What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

My vote: the first (and so far only) bike to be ridden by a U.S. rider to an Olympic gold medal.  A true one-of-one with irreplaceable history.

Actually you are incorrect Sir, 12 out of 12 Rednecks will answer PBR.

To me, for a bike to be THE grail, it has to be extremely rare, extremely costly to acquire, and simply a bike that most have never even seen and may never see in person.  Based in those criteria, I’ll take the OG Skyway 24” for the win.

Re: What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

A few more:

NOS unbuilt Hutch PRO STAR
NOS unbuilt Harry Leary Turbo

I do not think anything could compete with either....you can list Frame sets, parts, etc....BUT to find either of the above in a sealed box unbuilt would be the top.  Now go find one....

Re: What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

I totally agree, the Skyway 24 is easily top of the list.  I also see an NOS Hutch or Diamondback HL Turbo as being high up there on the "grail" scale.  Also an early 80's Diamond Back 24 or Redline 24 would definitely get my attention.

But an unopened box?  I like the idea, but I sure as heck ain't buying a "box" that hasn't been opened.  I think it'd be hilarious to find the unopened NOS Hutch you've been storing the last 20 years actually has a rusty and un-rideable Team Murry inside.  tongue

Grail is unattainable...the unopened part I was being a tad sarcastic.   lol  I would not buy an unopened one either.
