What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

I know that everyone has their own Holy Grail, But what is the most desired BMX frame set out there? Based on the number of favorites on this site it is a Gold Plated Hutch trick Star with 540 fav's  come on people is that what we really like? a gold plated BMX bike. or is it something with history from the beginning of our sport. something we cant replace or build.

Your thoughts?  just for fun!

Re: What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

Like you said, everyone's answer will be a little different. Mine was a 84' Astron, there were only 85 produced and most were raced pretty hard.

How about, to be a "known" name associated with the sport? Surely most cats at one time or another wanted to be in the magazines and have the Betty's flock your way...haha.

That's not exactly just another Gold Plated BMX Bike, that is THE Gold Plated BMX bike, originally owned by Woody Itson, and now back in the hands of Woody.  That bike was GOLD Plated by Hutch BITD as a special gift to Woody.  I'm not saying it is THE Holy Grail, but I'm sure to him it is, and you have to respect what it is.

Re: What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

woodys gold trickstar isnt't considered to "have history" ?  or be "something you cant replace or build" ? I aint even into old school and I know about that bike. Ironically, for me it would be dave's gold plated Mirra Pro big_smile , probably not most peoples choice im aware. But that's my vote

Re: What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

Everybody's interpretation of "grail" would be different it.... could be anything from a bike that was personally owned by a Pro rider or there own personal ride from BITD...While I know it would be near IMPOSSIBLE to find my OG Ozone...I will have to settle on this.....my GRAIL....

Re: What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

Well my response may be a little off course, but will fall under the can't be replaced or built category.  I'm going to work on a copy of it as soon as my finances will allow.  I would Love to have my Original '84 Sport I got in 1984 for an early Christmas present. That bike got stolen a few years later. I had a Master after that and I bought another '84 in around '89-'90 that was just like my first and still have it today. If I were offered the option My first bike or Woody's Gold TS(or any other bike for that matter) i'd take my Haro hands down regardless of what the other bike was worth. Obviously due to the history of it being my first quality bike from BITD. So my Grail bike would be my forever Lost 1984 Haro Sport.

Re: What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

Fram a rarity standpoint, the elusive looptail Diamondback 24" cruiser would be right up there on the top 10 list.
Only 3 or 4 prototypes given to factory racers bitd including Harry Leary and David Clinton. cool

Re: What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

there have been 100 topics asking this same question, lol but ah, why not...

1987 s&m k-9 D-Zine. (pronounce k-9 Design). there were less than 100 made. so far only 3-4 have surfaced on the museum. this was the first ever frame model from s&m.

Re: What is the Holy Grail of BMX??

My grail is supposedly sitting in a utility building in Florida somewhere.  covered in rust, but still full of OG Hutch parts it was built and raced with.

All I have to do it talk somebody into going over there to go get it so I can buy it.  lol
