Re: Helpful Tips For ebay/Paypal/Shipping

Sort of related topic so I'll ask it here. Anyone know why it looks like quite a few sellers on museum have moved away from paypal and are money order only now? Simple preference or was there some other reason that a couple of listings I noticed recently actually mention NO MORE PAYPAL, MONEY ORDER ONLY.....

I think from issues like this. I pulled this from an earlier comment.
nice job steve -

but this statement

"As far as trying to get your money back for a item not as described or damaged. this has to be taken up with the seller. If they prove with tracking its been shipped and deleivered its not paypal problem."

My experience(s) the buyer only needs to say the item is not as described (ebay auction) - provide "proof" they have shipped it back and paypal refunds the money. I noticed this scam on some computers and IP phones I sold awhile back - the guy bought my stuff took the lic information and some parts. I presented paypal with information on this and they did nothing.

the auction was for under 250.00 it stated 'as is and no returns' - paypal reversed the payment before I even received the items back.

Re: Helpful Tips For ebay/Paypal/Shipping

Can I use a USPS Priority Mail small flat rate box to ship a Dia-Compe brake with USPS First-Class Package International? USPS First-Class only shows brown boxes in the picture. Thanks

Update: According to a seller i bought from, it looks like we cannot use a Priority Mail box to ship First-Class International. I thought of turning the Priority Mail box inside out to use... it is brown on the inside... but it says "Priority Mail postage required" all over it. Dagnabbit! As if they already knew we were gonna do that neutral

PS. I was gonna glue brown paper sheets to the inside & use it, but not in the mood to do that

Re: Helpful Tips For ebay/Paypal/Shipping

Just curious on a topic. I am selling some bikes on Ebay and have been asked for the serial number of the bike. Is this o.k. to give out. I am curious because even here on the museum the serial numbers of the bikes are logged, but not published. Thanks in advance.

Re: Helpful Tips For ebay/Paypal/Shipping

I wouldn't worry about it. I post serial numbers all the time when I list bikes on ebay. Good luck with your sales!

No more media blasting at this time.
I am always glad to give advice any time!!!

Buyers abusing "not as described" to force refund when it's really buyers remorse. then they buyer can send back a used broken part and keep the nice one. all while getting there money fully refunded

that's why sellers are ditching paypal !sad

Re: Helpful Tips For ebay/Paypal/Shipping

Just curious as I'm new to selling here.....are PayPal and Money Orders my only options to receive payment? Are we allowed to use Venmo or Zelle? I don't want to use them and then find out I can't. Couldn't find any answers searching the forums. Thanks

I'm so Haro that I only fill up my Ford Fusion with Premium at the Chevron on Baseline Road. Then I turn the cap until it goes Cliq.

Re: Helpful Tips For ebay/Paypal/Shipping

The site won't encourage buyers to use anything that doesn't offer buyer protection, but the one thing you're not allowed to to is require PayPal gift payments.

Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86.  Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly.  There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.
