the v bar design flexes too much to be competitive for todays riders.
I really like the redline V bars myself. most of my redlines have v bars. and i agree the 24"
bars are small but the larger 26" feel fine and the 28" bars are downright roomy
I have a fairly tall v-bar on my hack, and it doesn't flex much at all.

Re: V-Bars discuss
My 1980 Redline has some stamped Redline bars that are about 26 wide. I like them and just consider them a variation in bar evolution.

Re: V-Bars discuss
I was always a fan and had several v-bars BITD but the final configuration of my '80 Pro-Line wound up with CW Pro bars (which I still like today.)
When a nice Pro-Line v-bar came up for sale here I hopped on them for old times sake but didn't know what to do with them.
What else? Collect up parts to build an entire bike around them.

I always liked them but never bought them. Don't know why except for maybe I wanted other parts first and never ended up buying them. The Redline 40th anniversary v bars are going on my new build though.

If you look at the unrestored pictures you will see the seatpost on the banana seat.
I just didn't get around to getting the banana seat recovered, or replaced.
Only took the hack around the block with the post in there like that.
Replaced it with a GT slight layback microadjust chrome post and SDG S2000 TI Saddle Black

Cool
Heres my profound, life changing statement.
Lifes a bitch..PASS ME A BEER.
They're reacting and that's wonderful. It's better than them sitting there doing nothing. I say make them react - do whatever's in your power to move the audience, and if that's where it is, and there where it is with America, sex and violence, then I say project it.

I mentioned those in the other V bar thread that Kurt_rad started. I like them except only offering one rise, and it's 9.8", just puts them WAY out of my usable range. Had to pay big bucks for copper Nowear Candybars since they come in a reasonable 8.5" rise. If there was a shorter rise option I'd have the DK's in copper.

Re: V-Bars discuss
The DK bars are for modern builds. DK did not set out for them to be old school or retro. When talking to the guys at DK, they said the first version of these had a straight crossbar but the handlebar just didn't look right because the gap between the stem clamp and crossbar was just too large. They then changed it to a V-bar to make the opening smaller. I like them and the kidlets think that it is a new look.

Yeah, I get it. But there's nothing old school or even really retro about my bikes. Some people just don't want bars that tall. 9.0 was to tall for my tastes as seen in the picture, so I went down to 8.5s.

Hmmm. I might just have to get a set of the RL anniversary bars for my Flight Pro XXL. Would be the perfect, old-school touch of bling.

Re: V-Bars discuss
^ For some reason the v on those is the best looking to me. The NoWear V is kinda deep IMHO (though Karl says that is because they were specifically designed for the candy bar trick) and the DK seems a bit to shallow to me. Al's look just right to me. All 3 look good on the right build though.

Fixed it for ya, got nothing to do with "modern" but trendy. Seriously, where you are at, are you selling a lot of the 10" and taller bars to young riders? I see lots if them here on the Museum on older guys bikes for cruising comfort, but at my locals I still mostly see 8.5 to 9.0 rise bars. Maybe my area is the exception and hasn't caught onto the trend yet.
