Re: Skyway Registry

1981 Skyway TA prototype confirmed by Ken Coster at Skyway factory. Telltale signs that make this a prototype are the following:
#1 Unstamped bottom brackett
#2 Open end seat stays and chain stays
#3 Solid dropouts front and rear with stickers showing placement for cut outs
According to Ken, none of these features would have made it onto a production frame.

This was one of mine from my younger days, I sold it on ebay about 10 years ago, I believe it went to the UK, I would love to get this back if anyone can track it down.

86 with a curved brake bridge? Post up some pics so we can see what you have. Might be another one of those factory freaks.

My money is on anniversary model, I really wish skyway would have published what serial numbers were on the 86 stamped bottom bracket shells they used for those frames. I know they were supposed to be stamped 2008 but who knows for sure?

Re: Skyway Registry

I just picked this one up and it's a bit of a mystery, it is a 9-83 stamped with a STRAIGHT brake bridge and an unknown TT stamp on the BB shell.
At first I thought the TT was a home made stamp but after seeing it up close the font is the same size, style and depth as the others and it's spaced perfectly between the date & serial so I'm thinking it is actually factory.
The straight bridge came on the 84 model, could this be an early prototype for that? Does the TT signify prototype or test? Is it a factory rider's initials?
I'll keep doing some research, please feel free to post your thoughts.

Very interesting! The font does look just the same as the other letters.

I stand corrected, Unsane is 100% right, I recently bought that frame from him, stripped the BB shell and it is a true stamped 86 model with no other stamping or filler covering the anniversary stamp. Curved brake bridge and 18 1/2" TT raw not chrome under the powder so it must have been originally white, unless skyway sold off some raw frames at some point.

Re: Skyway Registry

much to my shock I just discovered another one with the TT stamp on the bottom bracket also from 9-83 so that confirms that it must be some kind of factory stamp, but what does it mean? Just got confirmation the brake bridge is straight on this one as well???
