Darn, and I was sure this was the year the Quakers were headed for a Bowl game.  hmm

I get it
The Big 10 announced that they will not be playing any out of conference games either hmm
Not sure if that was just football or if it was all fall sports. I caught them talking about this in the middle of the discussion.

To put things in perspective with the ivy league schools vs a power conference like the Big 10 for instance. Ivy league schools brought in some crazy number just under 20 million in revenue and the BIG 10 brought in a measly 1. Whatever billion dollars in revenue yikes
My numbers might be a bit off a tad as this is what I heard on the radio yesterday ESPN/St.louis
Mind blowing number differences either way.

Numbers sound about right.

Beyond that, another thing to keep in mind with the Ivy League cancellation is that the league charter doesn't allow schools to give athletic scholarships, so it's probably one of the only conferences (if not the only one) where there's no issue with athletes potentially losing scholarships if their sport is cancelled.

True
I would like to see the tuition numbers compared to the power conference schools tuition fees. That's probably about the same difference in the cost of going to a ivy league school vs a BIG-10 school.

Re: College Football

Tuition at Penn (University of Pennsylvania, not Penn State) is about $55K annually, and I'd imagine the other Ivy schools are comparable.  That said, the schools' endowment funds are such that they only charge families what they can afford and the earnings from the endowments are used to cover difference via student grants.  Basically, if you're accepted, the school won't let affordability keep you from attending; that's been the practice for about 35 years now.  Consequently, the cost that families actually incur breaks out as follows:

Household income    Average cost to family

Less than $30,000    $7,755
$30,001–48,000    $5,323
$48,001–75,000    $12,968
$75,001–110,000    $20,979
More than $110,001    $39,340

What immediately came to mind when I saw the numbers that you just posted , the cost of sending a kid to a private high school to get the same general education as I did at a public school. yikes

If I remember correctly,  it is around the 50k to 75k per year ball park cost to send your kid to a private school like a CBC , Desmet or a SLUH "st.louis university high" school. That's a few of the more well known private schools in the st.louis area.

The CBC boys are steady winning Missouri state titles in hockey. I know that it has to be a little bit different from state to state but man o man is it expensive. After all of that, I have still ended up working with the private school boys and making the same money as they do at some jobs that I have had in my 30 years of work experience.
I can't stand the snotty ass attitude that comes with some of these guys either. Not all of them have that attitude but most of them do. It's like hold up,  you're no better than I am. Here you are,  working at the same place I do and your making the same wage. What did your ivy league high school education do for you that I didn't get from my public school education?

Just a for instance and it caused me to relapse and then vent a little bit lol

Re: College Football

I know man
They are trying to keep people safe. That really tells me that this is a real threat. All of pro sports as well as collegiate sports want that money. To be shutting everything down is going to put a hurt on these organizations and colleges.

I agree with you about the safe part. You cant have spectators in the stands at only 20 or 25% and not expect to see a uptick in the virus.

ND has Georgia tech next and I pray to God that they will win because they have a serious top ranking contender coming up. One game at a time though. The Irish D is pretty damn strong and they can run the ball. The passing game needs to get straightened out. I think that they have about as good of a defense as any team in the NCAA.

Has anyone noticed that the Irish are in the ACC for the 2020 season only? This season they are in a conference and that conference has the number 1 ranked team in college football  cool
