Ah come on man I've got a 97 Robinson MX, 99 Powerlite P-17 and a couple other mid-skoolers, but I just like bikes BMX, MTB and Roadies as long as their nice not rusted brakes need to work and have straight wheels. Just like cars/trucks clean no rust runs good and must be a MUSTANG...lolcool

When I think of the late 90's Bmx, its American made bikes that come to mind.

I think I know what your talking about but only a handful of goofy 90s bikes. Weird tubing and playing with new stuff the 90s was a huge leap and they were trying new things etc

Alot of stuff though was pretty clean but you have to full understand the abuse street riding would do to a bike and grinding etc

Now I see street stuff thats alot of tech etc and less grinding and beating the living shit out of your bike. 90s was about beating the hell out of a bike doing huge stair sets, hand rails, and grinding to the point were you have holes in your frame.

Thats the reasoning for large tubing etc

'90s and early 2000 bikes have their merits, style wise. I appreciate them, although
they are not my thing.
The reason I appreciate them is the fact that BMX was still around, and still is today.
I love new school and mid because I see the lineage of BMX.  Put an early Mongoose
next to a 2013 anything, and I notice the commonalities, not the differences. The
'90s were experimental for sure, ugly? Maybe. Necessary? Absolutely.

It's just you...tongue  Mid school was all about dimensions and angles, and I think they worked well -- for the most part.  I personally think McMahons, Jads, Herringtons, and Airbornes were all pretty damn ugly.

I raced in the early eighties and totally respect the Old School rides...but have been hooked on Mid School stuff lately, but not all of it....some of it missed the mark if you were going for just looks, yet some are quite beautiful and functional. Some of the Mid School stuff is way cool to load up with newer school race parts and get them back out on the track. You can get away with that on a Mid Schooler where you had the transition in regards to brakes...headsets...frame materials...BB....no way thats going to look right on a Old School bike. Plus its so much fun to see the looks on the young guns faces when they are trying to figure out just what the hell rolled up next to them at the gate.... wink

Not your generation obviously. Totally my generation though. Your generation was all about racing because it was closer to its beginning.  My generation was more exposed to the ramps or dirt jumps rather than the racing aspect. That is all no need to bash Gen X designs. Cause if you continue............. I'm going to find you..............and I will kill you, lol.

There has been a few really nice 90s 2000s I have liked and the geometry has changed for sure but in general I'm with you on that,I think a lot more creativity and personality went into the 80s bikes. Ive owned a few bikes since I've been back into it even some 90s and a 2002 haro master flat land which had the best brakes I've ever used but they all went and went back to pre 86 cause thats what floats my boat smile

same old stupid shit.

you just dont know. so you dont understand. and most likely have not looked at the right bikes built right anyways.

this same saying i keep hearing "80s bikes are the best looking and everything else doesnt look as cool" is the most laughable shit i hear every day.  there are beautiful bikes from ALL eras and it just seems that people dont understand that or cant get past "their own personal era"

its sad.

just saying I COULD CLOWN THE HELL OUT OF SOME GOOFY 80s bikes.....  that is of coarse i wanted to make a dumbass thread...

I love my mid school and new school bikes as much as I love my old school rides. Must say, mid school bikes had much better brakes than old schoolers. Shimano DX V-Brakes can stop a train!

I would tend to agree but this time period was not my original time period of riding. I do find that my tastes change and who knows....maybe  someday I will feel the want to built one of these late 90's early 2000's bikes. For now when I look at them it doesn't do anything for me, so I see where you're coming from.

I didn't like the new Camaro's at first, but they grew on me.  I wouldn't mind having any of the above bikes in my stable.
