My son's first score!

We went to the late summer jam in Hatfield Massachusetts today. I dragged
my son there, practically kicking and screaming. The first thirty minutes he
was asking me when we were leaving yikes . Everyone there was so cool to him
and I truly appreciate that. He's always wanted a Mongoose after seeing my
buddy Paul's collection (good thing he didn't want a $kyway) lol
Thanks to Chaby, my son's wishes came true. It's a little rough, but that
will make the results that much sweeter. Can't wait for this resto!

Re: My son's first score!

This thing is crispy, but the price was right (free!)
We are going to strip it, paint it white, and sticker it like a Californian.
I don't think this thing is rare, so I'm not concerned with an authentic
resto. I'm just psyched he's psyched.
As Calvin said on the ride home, "Chaby's the MAN". Thanks Chaby!

Congrats to you and your son!  Being a dad myself the smile on your kids face is worth any price for the bike.  big_smile

Very cool!!! Nothing better than having your kid as a riding partner . My 11 year old rides with me.
Will be a nice father / son project
I couldn't make it up there today ( I'm from ct) how was the turnout?
Hopefully there will be an octoberfest in rhode island

Great turnout and a great time! We had a blast! Met some people from the museum,
saw some old friends. Good time all around.

Re: My son's first score!

Well, a little progress. Stripped the bars, kind of as a test. I thought the
finish may have been powder, but it stripped easily like paint.
Thank you aircraft stripper! Decals on order from BMXProducts, attacking the
f/f tomorrow.

A. No! He doesn't help. At least not with the refinishing. I only have him every other
weekend, so he is mostly his mother's son hmm.
I figure I will refinish everything and involve him when it comes time for assembly.
I am just happy he embraced the whole vintage thing.
