1997 Royce Union Torch FS
1997 Royce Union Torch FS
bike project for my nephew's birthday
his first bike that is all his! he's turning 10.
found on CL.
bars were bent on left side, left pedal spindle was bent, front brake was missing, rear brake was missing cable, crank was loose and sloppy, wheels were out of true, freewheel was dry and rusted trash.
replaced bars with NOS bars from Chad.
new oury grips from Chad.
replaced hand brake and wheels with coaster brake mag wheel set from Rob.
replaced pedals with new chinese knock-offs from E.
pedals were supposed to be 1/2" new, red VP's but they turned out be 9/16" and wouldn't work.
apparently, the knock-offs were the best thing E had to send me in lieu of the VP's.
the rest of the bike is in the same condition i got it in, except i tightened up the slop in the cranks.

Re: 1997 Royce Union Torch FS
After I gave him the bike, he rode it all over the property. Up and down the driveway, through the fields, around the buildings, everywhere. When he finally slowed down long enough for me to talk to him, I asked, "you really like that bike, don't you?"
He said, "no, I don't like it; I LOVE IT!"
