Re: 1982 Kuwahara E.T.

That's a nice looking bike. The "T" is Tange and the "2" is 1982, both of which would be correct for a 1982 Kuwahara ET. Tell us how you got the bike. It looks clean.

Re: 1982 Kuwahara E.T.

Thanx all.
Bought bike about a year ago from eBay, the guys brother had just died (young) so he sold his possessions etc.
after getting bike home, realised it had extra hole in gusset, did a few hours research, via google etc revealed it to be a kyz full chromoly frame.
So as I said, I've erase arched this quite a bit, but the two things I can't understand are, 1: it has got an "et" t2 frame number, and 2: when you watch the "et film" at a certain place in film, the bike Elliot rode, had the same small hole in the gusset ( picture enclosed) can't see it very well on photo, but on film, it's very clear?

Re: 1982 Kuwahara E.T.

Kzs had a small hole in the gusset for the brake cable.  No worries.

Re: 1982 Kuwahara E.T.

From what I understand the left over ET frames had the hole drilled in them, were chromed and called KYZ's. But if that is true the frame should be chrome. Unless the owner had the frame painted. It looks like it has all the correct parts that the ET's came out with. Its also strange that a frame made in June 1982 wasn't sold as an ET.

Re: 1982 Kuwahara E.T.

The bike Elliot is on in the movie is not a loop tail , it is actually a KZ-1. The mass produced ET bikes were made of hi-tensil steel, and only had one big hole in the gusset. The KYZ frame sets looked identicle to the Et frame , but it was  full chromoly frame and fork. They had the extra hole, and were chrome. So actually the KYZ is better.

Re: 1982 Kuwahara E.T.

Mr red stick is correct dude..it's not a genuine Et kuwahara. A genuine Et would be the mass produced high tensile with no small hole in gusset. An Elliot Et as used in the movie would be the mighty kz1.
Your KYZ Et is one of a kind and its awesome....don't change a thing. Great job dude
