Redline Bottom Bracket

So I've got an '83 Redline, using three piece Sugino Super Maxy cranks, and I'm having trouble finding a bottom bracket (bearings/cups/nuts) the correct size. The bike measures 51.2mm (give or take a hundredth), and all I'm finding is larger, like 55mm bb cups. I've contacted several retailers/manufacturers, they either don't know or have the larger size. I have the spindle, but wouldn't be opposed to buying a complete kit.

Does anyone have some part numbers I should be looking for in, Sunlite, Beartrap, Tioga, Dynatron, etc.?

Pulling my hair out here, don't have much to pull out either!

Re: Redline Bottom Bracket

Do you mean the diameter of the cups themselves?
Is the spindle 28T?
It should say on the spindle. Have a look and post a pic.
I should have something in the shop.

Re: Redline Bottom Bracket

Ok, so in double checking my measurements, it seems I have a slightly out of round crank tube...

Looks like the bearing cup is indeed the right size...

Just needs some persuading, a little heat, cups in the freezer and some press action...

And here's the spindle, 24T, BMX-L 81-1...

I still would like to change to sealed, if anyone knows a part number.

Re: Redline Bottom Bracket

Ahhh.... you need a bigger persuader.
I'd coax the shell "rounder" and press the cups in. Don't know if I'd put too much heat to it. It could mess up that nice chrome.
At least you got to the root of the issue.

Those oval BB cups are really hard to find.
