Re: GT Serial Number Info

Not for sure, I have not yet seen the frame. The seller gave me the serial and said that its a GT. I will have to go and have a look.

Here is another pic of it...Hope it helps.

Re: GT Serial Number Info

Hi again. Could you please tell me what the XXL model is exactly or what the difference is between the X, XL, and the XXL 90 pro series is? It is followed by 11891801 serial which has been explained clearly. Cheers

The difference in the frames is in the geometry.
89-92
PE=18.5tt XL=19.5tt XXL=20.5tt

92-96
PE=19.5tt XL=20.5tt

Re: GT Serial Number Info

The bike was clearly built with an 86 f/f to look like the 84. Notice the forks...

I dont really know how else to explain it thats a Japanese serial and Japan didnt start making untill 85. The serial reads August 86, it is always possible that the bike shop built this from a f/f. Those are also 85/86 forks so I guess just take from it what you will.

Yeah probably an 83. There should be a stamp lower down to the left of this serial which would indicate a model. 3 or a 4 most likely. If not, get the toptube measurement if its 17" its an Expert if its 18.5" or longer a Pro.

Youd get more if you sold the f/f by itself. Its hard to say, f/f's can go anywhere from $200-$400.
Right now the market is on the low side.

Made in Dec 85, probably sold as an 86 model.

Guys this is why I made the cheat sheet so you dont have to keep asking the same questions. Please read the cheat sheet to see if the answer is already there(which it is). ;)

The Mach One has a Pro frame so you cant tell it apart from a Pro Series unless you know what components came on it.
I am unfamiliar with the Team Series so I cant tell you what frame it came with, if its the regular 4 stamped Pro frame than it has the same frame as the other models. There is a Pro long frame(L4 stamped) that has an inch longer top tube. I am not sure which frame the Team Series came with though the 4 or the L4.

This of course is all depending on whether or not the bike in question is actually from 84-86. The frames did change in 87.
