Re: GT Serial Number Info
I tried, but it must have been too big. I just made it smaller and re-submitted.

Re: GT Serial Number Info
Hi all,
I'm a newbie to this site. I bought a GT (frame is chromoly and a crook at the front part of the underframe, like a 88-89 Performer series) recently and could not put a handle on the year and model. The serial number is on top of the crankset "990300345". Appreciate any help to locate the model, year and where it was made.

Re: GT Serial Number Info
OK, so if I am following this post, the GT Vertigo I have with the serial number
YC96050547
Means it was built in '96 overseas?
I so miss REAL BMX....

Re: GT Serial Number Info
Help me out with this... There's a GT PFT on ebay and the guy claims it's a 1989. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi … TQ:US:1123
Anyway, I think it's 1990. He is basing his claim on info from bmxmuseum.com. Even if he is reading the serial number correctly: FS 10890259, assuming 10/89 is the build date, wouldn't this make it a 1990?
Thanks!

Re: GT Serial Number Info
Yes its a 90, dont even need to see the pics cause they started making 90's in April or May of 89. Demand for the 990s was too high for GT to make the 89's for long and thats why you hardly see any.

Re: GT Serial Number Info
Thanks... I love it when I'm right. Anyway, while I'm here I will share my newest addition... Just want to confirm it's a 89 Vertigo. Serial # on dropoutis: GH89052141. And a few pics. I will add to the museum as soon as I get a few parts I'm waiting on; GT Laidback seatpost, etc..., I got the bike for $25 on CL! It was in pieces but everything was there (with the exception of the post. Took a LOT of work and detailing, but it's almost there!

Re: GT Serial Number Info
12932719 M1 on rear dropout.
Dec 1989 or Jan 1929? After studying all four pages, I'm not thinkin its Dec 1993. Correct me.
*edit* Ok, I went back and read everything a couple times again. The part that threw me off was the 7 and 9 digit ser #'s. Since it is 8 digits with no letters, I think maybe it IS a CA-made 12/93 # 2719. Agreed?

Re: GT Serial Number Info
I have a question you might be able to help with, I have a 24" GT Cruzer that I have owned since 1981 and I have gone over the
whole frame and have found none what so ever serial numbers. The bike came with Redline flight cranks, Skyway tufs that are not on it but I do still have, other then the comp 2 tire's that have been replaced it is original as the day it was bought at Homer's Bike Shop in Las Vegas Nev. Homer had his own Race Team so could this be some sort of Pro Frame and fork set???

Sounds like an 80/early 81? I cant recal seeing any 24"ers back that far, a lot of 26"ers. But I may have and just forgotten. Pics will tell for sure whether its an early model.
