<<<100% Made in U.S.A. BMX Bike. Let's build it!!! >>>

Always wanted to do this. Let's hear your ideas of how to get this done. I will continually update and compile a list of possibilities for each part. There are lots of frames to choose from, but what about tires, tubes, brake cables, seats, etc.?

I try to use ALL American parts on all my bikes. But your right, some parts are tough. I had trouble finding good rims too. I love Sun rims and GSport as well. I had American pedals on all of them at one point but ditched the Bullseye's. I like platforms now.

Yeah rims and tires may be tough...  I know most are designed in the usa but not actually made here.   Crupi may be made in the usa but im not sure about all the parts. G sport is deff not.

You're one of the guys on here that goes through the trouble and expense to build bikes with as many US made parts as possible, that's awesome. cool OK, platform pedals, good place to start as any. What are US made options on those?

Hope Crupi's are still US made, I'm a fan of their stuff.

edit: Just spoke with Sean at Crupi.  Good news, their pedals are still 100% Made in the USA. big_smile

I imagine finding USA made tubes would be quite a challenge.

Yes indeed. Anything not currently available I'll try to have custom manufactured in Detroit.

Re: <<<100% Made in U.S.A. BMX Bike. Let's build it!!! >>>

Even in the early eighties its so hard to build an all American made bike, theres more parts made in Japan than it is here and most American companies are having the Japanese build parts for them

S&M and Crupi are holding up in this economy pretty well but even them have parts made overseas dont they?

I heard that products that are being made in china now are not going to be marked , stickered or stamped made in china , the only way we the consumers can tell is by the first 3 numbers on the barcode

That's going to be really, really, really hard to do....I know because I've tried.  I think I came really close with my Phaze One, but there's just some parts that I couldn't find U.S. , such as tires, wheels, chain, and then the really little parts such as the brake cables, freewheel,tubes......it's next to impossible to find some of these parts made in America. hmm

Yes, this will be challenging for sure. Lots of talented guys on this site (Metal Man to the rescue!) lol, and maybe I can get auto parts manufacturers here in Detroit to help us out. It's a matter of principle.

I'm not sure if Crupi is even making pedals right now. I love the platforms. Don't forget LDC brakes, I love mine. Super strong and stop on a dime. Too bad Profile doesn't get the gas pedals going. At $100 those aren't a wallet buster and they kick ass. Thomson makes awesome seatpost clamps to go with stems and seatposts. I don't know of any brake cables........I use Nokon but they are German.

Yeah they're still making the Crupi rounds now, and on their site it says they may make platforms again.
