JMC Find-super Rare-Serial number 1

Hi i found this super Rare JMC with rare Drop outs and Oval block
gusset behind the euro bottom bracket,i think it might be one of the first frames ever made by JMC,the serial number is JR1,I think that is a junior a model never released or in the museum. The forks are old huffy style fork the had a big gusset brazed under the fork crown, parts look from around 75 or 76?I did not get the wheels.

Re: JMC Find-super Rare-Serial number 1

Not the first frames - if I remember right the first 2 were xp1 and xp2, they were both st'd shorts - it's most likely a JR model, stood for "Justin Roos" wouldn't be surprised if it may have been his, must be early cause I don't remember those features on the only other one I've ever seen (don't quote me, because I'm not as learned in the earlier offerings, I'm more a 80-85 guy in they're history, but I know a fair amount) - nice piece of history, no real market references for that, so you'd have to auction it off to know a true market value for it.

Wish I'd have happened on that one ! Can you say "jealous". hmm

Wow. Simply unreal. More story on the find?

I was thinking it might be before the xp1 and xp2 shorts just because of the Gusset and small double hole drop outs, plus it seems like he might not have made a fork yet? Thanks for the info Brother!

They made about 55 of those JR frames. I read about those frames years ago.

Re: JMC Find-super Rare-Serial number 1

Tey didn't make forks in the beginning - the forks were added to the line in 78 - earliest frames Jim mentions were the xps and they were late 76 into 77 if I'm not mistaken ... And they did offer a JR model a tad bit later .... In very low quantities just like the micro mini

But all can be deciphered with the stroke of the key - just hit Jim up and he should be able to she's the light, the frame histories are straight up documented so ... Wait no longer- BMXJim on ebay

Looking at the few pics i could find on the internet,i don't think my frame is the same as a justin roos,my top tube does not peirce the seat tube as far back and the seat stays are flush to the back of it,my loop tail looks a little different in the bend,i can't tell if the justin roos has a block gusset behind the bottom bracket the other minis did not have one before his,and my drop out are way different, plus my seat tube angle is not as kicked back. The justin roos JR Mini came out in 82.

Re: JMC Find-super Rare-Serial number 1

Man, you're on a roll with these finds!big_smile

The first production Justin Roos was serial #82352 (unpainted), sold to Crusin' Kelly (Power Riders) on 9-15-82. Kelly is the sister of fellow member (BMXTEACHER) and the bike can be seen under his profile, even though he has it listed incorrectly as a '85.  Then again Power Riders received at least three of the first thirteen sold.

With a serial of JR1 my guess it's possibly a bike made for a team rider......can't wait to hear what Jim has to say.
