Did it have the checkered seatpost on it BITD and in the old pics there? Hard for me to tell.

Yes you can see it right behind his right leg

By the way, I last had the bike in Roswell Georgia, probably don't remember having it after around 1984 and do not remember how when or why i got rid of it. I found the bike at the Spring Fling in Tampa a few months back and got it from a museum member through a trade.

Von, is the bike shop where you guys originally bought it still around? If so there's a chance they may have old sales records and could look up the serial number.

Wish I could find my old MX II but I know that thing is long gone and parted being in Chicago.p

With that being said it is pretty odd the seat/post/stem etc are all still the same, what are the odds?

My vote is that it is your bike from BITD......cool story nonetheless.
